It is a good development that the congress-led coalition governemnt in Delhi saw wisdom in not pursuing the ill-considered move to initiate a presidential reference. It would have brought definite discredit to the government if it chose to raise a needless academic legal exercise on the respective jurisdictions of the legislature and judiciary. Thank god that Dr Singh saved himself and his government from falling in the trap laid by the legal and constituional pundits.
What is needed today in our country is a dedicated pursuit of legislative and parliamentary practices and procedures and giving opportunity to the opposition to participate and express their candid views. Le the executive and the legislative branches of the state do their obligatory duties properly instead of trying to tell what other branches of the state should do.
