Governors Office
by Ashish on Mar 03, 2005 08:18 AM

What has happened in past few days is really distrubing. Governors office has been remitted to play a role of extension counter of a party office both in Goa and Jharkand. So called democratic and secular parties are tranishing the image of world's largest democracy and made mockery of the in front of the entire world

Why the BJP is smiling?
by s subramanyan on Mar 03, 2005 07:57 AM

It is not merely enough to smile at the way things ar happening in Jharkhand or Goa. BJP has a lot of gorund work to do. It had better concentrate on exposing the authoritarian and anti-democratic measures of the Congress coaliton, expose the hollowness of the Budget and its anti-people measures and ensure importantly that its second-gen brigade focuses on the party's goals singlemindedly.

Role of Governors
by SSRamamoorthy on Mar 03, 2005 07:33 AM  | Hide replies

The role of governors and their method of appointment needs an urgent review. The way the governors are removed and their position used in the states of Goa and Jharkand is dangerous to our very federal struture. The governor should not be a political appointee. He must be a person of high integrity, knowledgeble and to be appointed by a body constituted, members include the Chief justice of India, chief election commissioner, attorney general, the prime minister, the opposition Leader, and the Chief minister of the concerned state. To be appointed for a fixed tenure of 5 years, and all constitutional previleges& protections applicable to Chief election commissioner, are to be extended to Governors to enable them to function without fear and favour.

This incident in jharkhand is total misuse of power and buring the constitution. If this is not challenged right now this can even cause civil war in long run.
I have been supportive of congress policies in near term but this is infact biggest blow to congress by its own governer.

I am with NDA on this ..

True, BJP will come back
by phani on Mar 03, 2005 02:06 AM

Yes, its true that the current events in Goa, Jharkhand, and Bihar will only strengthen the support base of BJP, and NDA. NDA government has done a very good job in compared to the previous or the current congress government. First, the congress has recalled governers and forced them to resign. Now, its misusing Governors authorities to manipulate governments in states. Congress is unfit to rule this country. This was probably the last chance given to congress by the people of India. I believe there will never be a congress rule at the center in the near future after this government falls. BJP has to move in and gain political space. It has to proove that it is a party with a difference. Its your chance again BJP!. Jai Hind.
