Escapism! Now why am I not surprised Rupa.

People like you make the state of Bihar what it is right now! Its truly sad that a Bihari like you would say such a thing.

But then again it is you, and thats why it doesnt come to me as a surprise at all.

Kahiyega kuch aur kariyega kuch.

My 2 cents.

After more than a decade there is a hope that new rays of hope are emerging. Lalu's raj will not end but it will recede if the centre appoints honest and capable persons like K.P.S Gill for the post of home affairs advisor to the Governor. Ram Vilas Paswan should allow the centre to manage the affairs of Bihar instead of going into unholy coalitions that might bring the corrupt politicians back into power.
Dr.Manmohan Singh should take the bold stance of administering a strict governance to clean up the mess and change the attitude of the officials in Bihar by initiating transfers and bringing confidence among people.
Lalu Prasad, Deve Gowda are people whose raj can be controlled if they are kept out of power but their influence will remain. Lalu's raj will recede the most if President's rule is maintained for as long as possible and provide good governance during that period, so that in the next elections he still can't bounce back.
I wish that Lalu's raj comes to an end. Also wish that no other party comes to power for while as they are no better than him. BJP leaders at centre should pressurise the centre to maintain president's rule to end Lalu's raj. I am sure it will.

Star campaigner Sonias majic: Congress did not do well
by Premendra Agrawal on Feb 24, 2005 12:55 PM

I think people dont want hung assembly, So they could vote to the alternative of Lalu RJD.
They could try to vote tactically. There were three front: NDA, RJD and third LJP+Congress. It was clear before the voters that LJP+Congress would not come in majority. Further they could not vote RJD, which did nothing in 15 years for them. So NDA should give wonder to its opponent.
There was anti-combinancy sentiment in Bihar. 24 days long voting period develop this.
There were fight between UPA allies, Even their committed voters were confused about friendly fight.
Muslim voters first time try not to be vote bank. Though Besides Banerji report, Gujarat riot posters, Atal-Ayodhya CDs came. But all these did not work. Muslim voters are not above 10%l Upper & Brahman voters angered to see posters & to hear CDs.
RJD may end up with a lower tally than the NDA.
Congress did not do well, there could be the possibility of Ram Vilas Paswan switching sides to form a government with the help of the NDA. Still NDA is soft towards Paswan. In the Last moment Paswan himself open publicly his wishes to be CM.

Bihari Identity
by Rupa Sinha on Feb 24, 2005 11:44 AM  | Hide replies

My dear Bihari Brethren,

There is no use crying over Bihar state of affairs. It is not going to improve. What I would suggest is lying and hiding your Bihari identity to the hilt. Then only you can be accepted in a civilized society.

I am a popular media personality in USA and never tell anyone that I am a Bihari. If I do I will lose all goodwill. Even though my surname clearly suggests I am a Bihari, most people hardly know it. And if you can westernise your accent, it helps immensely. Thus you can get around the ignominy of being a Bihari pretty easily.

Hope, I make sense.

Rupa Sinha
