Navel gazing in powerless Ranchi

I remember the beautiful Ranchi of the 60's ,those were the days when we got down at Ranchi Road station and travelled by bus to Ranchi, beyond Ramgarh Cantonment , in the Chutupalu Ghats the clouds would drift into the the bus and drench us.Being the student of first batch of Rajendra Medical College ,we could not afford to go and hear Bharat Ratna Bismillah Khan as freshers, not knowing what to do - Nazim, Triveni & I went backstage and we told him our desire and our problem.Believe me- he came to our College at Bariatu and enthralled us for more than two hours in our College, and when when we wanted to offer him taxi fare[ thats what we could afford!] , the great soul said" Bete log, mujhe khusi hain mein tumhare beech aakar tumhe kuch suna saka- khuda tumhe barkat dein aur tum khushal raho".It was a lifetime experiance.I love Ranci, Firayalal Chowk , Plaza Picture Hall .....I visited Ranchi last in 1971 after formation of Bangladesh. The Ranchi I knew was a wonderful place.Allah Ranchi ko boori nazroon se mahfooz rakhe...long live Ranchi and its advasi culture. Can anyone forget the Annual Week Long celebrations of BIT,Mesra?

Ethasam's account on Ranchi is well... quiet close to reality. He sure has absorbed whats floating in the air in Ranchi. The capital city has sure come a long way from 1994. I too appreciate the fact that rediff.com has put up his story on the main page!
Thats indeed a nice place to see Ranchi's name.
I would also hereby extend Ehtasam an invitation to come back and visit Ranchi from March18-20, 2005 for a unique Travel & Trade Mart which is being organized with the help of the Department of Tourism, Govt of Jharkhand. I am sure it would have more surprises for whole of the world when the hot spots which are lying out of the gaze comes into "mainstream"!!
Thanks for Ranchi's mention! Would like to see more of it on rediff.com!!
