Defeat of communalism?
by eranielbala on Oct 17, 2004 01:15 PM

Says who? The underlying fact in the past two major elections - general and maharashtra - have shown a clear line of strategy for the BJP and where it should head next. These are two elections where the party has put the aspirations and desires of the hindu community into the backburner and lectured about Development. Result? They lost to a party that has ruined India and Maharashtra for decades. This is a punishment for changing ideologies. The BJP should realize that idealogy more than being at power is what is required for any party and that is what gives an identity to the party. All those people who talk of defeat of communal forces should realize that there was no hindutva propaganda in these elections where the BJP lost badly. A price a party pays for ignoring about 800 million people to hold on to power. It is high time the saffron flags are held up again in pride.

ketkar shud note dis
by raj on Oct 17, 2004 01:34 AM

ketkar seems to be overlooking the fact that congress has actually suffered in these elections....its more like Sharad Pawar has taken congress for a ride...how does that mean the so called acceptance of Sonia?? seems Ketkar, like through the pages of his newspaper, is here too acting in his capacity as the propaganda secretary of Sonia....being an old communist he knows the tricks of the trade well....and wtf has given him the right to speak for the middle classes anyway?

Overcompensation ?
by Kartik Talamadupula on Oct 17, 2004 12:35 AM

Seems to me the author has overcompensated for his blunder of predicting a wrong winner, and thus now is heavily bent on justifying WHY he went wrong, and how anyone in the given circumstances would have done the same thing...
