Should indian politicians learn values from a foreigner?
by B.Gautam on Oct 09, 2004 01:25 AM

Politicians of India who change colours often with the sole intention of selfish reasons should bow their heads in shame to the noble and magnanimous gestures shown to them by the so called foreign personality in spite strong opposition to her! Will they imbibe such enhanced personalities by learning those valued qualities with devotion?

I have high hopes from Sonia Gandhi for the nation. She is only for the development of the entire country. As long as she is the head of Congress party no one can dare to indulge in corruption.

Casteism in Sharad Pawar's speech
by Prakash on Oct 06, 2004 01:43 AM

On the TV, they showed excerpts from Sharad Pawar's speech. Part of it was blatantly casteist. He rattled a few surnames -Mahajan and some others - and went on to say that these surnames were not from Peasant and Farmer's family and that they could not know much about farming. The implication was that he and his people knew about farming because of their surnames.

The unfortunate part is that newspapers and media find nothing wrong with such speeches. In India, the decision as to who is/are casteist and communal has already been made. The others can go on merrily using these divisions to their benefit.
