Progressed state's verdict
by janardhan on May 14, 2004 12:55 PM

Karnataka is the most progressed state in the country and the verdict of its people is spelt through a sense of deeper insight and wisdom. If they voted for Vajapayee factor it is because they found the truest solution in this magnanimous person.

performance of NDA
by partha seth on May 14, 2004 12:36 PM

why indian people elected to sonia gandhi as a leader of our country but i am sure atal bhihari bajpayee and his companies were doing excellent job during their tenure-by creating india shining brand and good feel factors among people of india;they raised confidence of country and revised the position of country in global market.they have tried to creat historic relationship with pakistan through an innovative idea like cricket match, tried to creat double digit gdp groth rate in the economy, created boom in it &ites services, made a stronger position in foreign exchange reserve over $100bn,negotiated intellectualy in wto for farmers ,created reforms in banking sector by providing greater fdi, reduced npa',historic boom in stock market, appreciation of rupee against dollar, better negotation with eu,these are the immediate results which has never seen by congress govt .in their past parformance.i understood ndas have fault like lack of concentration in rural part, not able to provide poors their basic amenities properly but their effort was honest with introducing some schemes for poor they did good job.problem of our confused peole not able to find strong leader&result election 2004.

No Hero to the rescue
by Balasubramaniam on May 14, 2004 10:52 AM

As a long time resident in Karnataka for over 18 years, I do not share Riti's view that this is a vote for Vajpayee.
The political class and your urban readers will get it wrong once again, if they assume that this is a vote for Vajpayee. It is as much an anti-incumbency vote against a perceived pro-rich Govt(Krishna) as in Andhra Pradesh across the border. Bangalore is not Karnataka just as Hyderabad is not A.P.
We must try and remember that the seats are split practically 3 way between BJP, Congress & Deve Gowda's party. To say that Vajpayee is the Hero for Karnataka is mere pro-BJP hype.

what wave was there?
by shyam on May 14, 2004 10:23 AM

i dont understand why these people tell there was a vajpayee/bjp wave even after election results are out. there was no wave. there was a big "anger wave" among the people against their rulers except in delhi and himachal and orissa. talk of any other wave is utter disrespect for the people

BJP cant get a majority in karnataka. they got 10 seats more than congress. JDS also got almost same. i think people didn't know for sure whom to vote.
