Singh PM...............give a second thought
by Shaiku on May 20, 2004 10:01 PM

Well, MM Singh, seems to be the right candidate?? Give a second thought, MM is very cool and calm person not able to handle problem creators like mulayam and sharad pawar, atal ji looks like the same however innerly he has all the tactics to deal with all kinds of problem creators like jaya and mamata, if Rahul becomes then he would have some control over the congress party, otherwise, if Surjeet ji feels bored he will just give a call to the press and tells he is stopping reforms and the Stock Market goes down flat...... and Mulayam will create problems in his own way,,, so we have have to think from this view also.......

Happy for India

Happy for India that Dr. Manmohan Sing is assuming the PM post. Ho he will live up to the expectation and not succumb by the collation politics. Well As for the secular part, all parties are as non secular as the BJP. How can you call Congress a secular party when it has accepted the support of Muslim league? Or SP which declared holiday on Friday?

exir pole
by sameer on May 20, 2004 09:34 PM

Dear Sir,
The failure of exit poles in India is beacuse of nonuniformity of the sample and so small size. Whenever you take such a small size of sample and try to extraplate it to our voter size which is greater than 50 crore, the error will also magnify in the same magnitude. The exit pole experts were assuming an error of 10% but they did not consider rhe fact that error also magnified by around or more than 100 fold.
Also do they have any explaination for their nonuniformity of the sample and how they chosen the samples.

Sameer.

Why Sonia backed?
by Rashmi on May 20, 2004 09:29 PM

The real reason why Sonia might have backed off

To quote from the section 5 of Indian Citizenship Act "PROVIDED that in prescribing the conditions and restrictions subject to which persons of any such country may be registered as citizens of India under this clause, the Central Government shall have due regard to the conditions subject to which citizens of India may, by law or practice of that country, become citizens of that country by registration".

I don't know what Italian Law says about Indians assuming higher offices.

Wow!

Dr. Manmohan Singh is the best thing that has happened to India. He symbolises the Indian Professional. He is the architect of modern Indian economy and India needs the 'Doctor' to give it anither push. Nobody else understands its complexities. BJP was only follwing wjat he had started as the Finance Minister. Now it's time that he introduces som new policies and moulds it for the future... as only he can !!

Manmohan is the right choice.
by Vikrum on May 20, 2004 04:02 PM

I fail to understand why Congress party did not project manmohan Singh as the prime ministerial candidate before the polls. I am sure Congress would have managed to get more seats. Sonia Gandhi has set a good precedent by not accepting the prime post, I think some of her Indian counterparts need to learn a thing or two about morals from her.

New PM
by Karthik on May 20, 2004 01:14 PM

It is another chance for India...to expect an able veteran economist as the head of state, Dr Manmohan Singh. He has proved consideribaly in his earlier tenure as Finance Minister. No other person ,apparently has a has a vision to scale him. But here too , what i think is , as a economist he can be an independant PM. But as applied to political arena, he must hone his expertise ,capable to harness the variety of horses he may ride on.
My best wishes for the PM Designate ,Dr Manmohan Singh

I think Dr. Singh would be the right choice for PM as far as the matter of new PM is to be concerned,, because he is really most experienced person and telentive economist too.
