VINOD TULI
NAIDU
by VINOD TULI on May 12, 2004 10:11 PM

No ! Naidu has a vision but could not carry along the masses along with him - lack of poor PR (Public Relations Work) - not educating their poor people of the future which this great leader had invisioned. He had the charisma of talking to his District level officers - in video coverage - saving lakhs of rupees of exchequer for pn the spot feed back. This model could ahve been adopted by all backward States of India perhaps. The Centre could have helped in this regard. Perhaps they didn't. It is unfortunate for the country that people with vision are being ousted from governance - simply on negative propaganda - and not repeat not highlighting his achievements. WAS C. NAIDU ahead of his time- time only will tell? Let the losers take a lesson or two. VINOD TULI - an ardent admirer of the man of the future with a tip for his IT consultants to look backwards - if not his bureaucrats. VINOD TULI -DELHI .

Naidu's exit !
by aK, Dubai on May 12, 2004 03:56 PM

There is no doubt about the fact the Mr.Naidu was the most talked about and hi-profile CM over the last 5 years or so. His contribution to the development of the state and Hyderabad in particular is truly commendable. I agree that it was quite unfair of Mr.Naidu to over-see the plight of thousands of farmers all around the state.

However, I believe he was just in making the Govt. employees work harder and in bravely attempting to make the State a services-based economy. He almost single handedly undertook the collosal task of putting Hyd on the IT map within such a short duration. In doing so he has encouraged the formation of investor-friendly policies and sanctions at the Centre and healthy competition within the nation's IT frontiers. He has also laid the foundation for the untapped Bio-tech boom and has set the ball rolling with great momentum in the IT and services sector. We should not forget that with privatization of almost all sectors, Government employees and organizations have to now wake up and compete to survive the market. It was a decision that made Mr.Naidu unpopular but someone had to do it. I hope the Congress govt. carries on the good work with the same tempo

Naidu's reforms and people's expectations
by Diwaker on May 11, 2004 09:12 PM

This is tragic that the blame for all the bad apples is livied on Naidu. His administration skills , leadership qualities and his commitment towards the public welfare has no parallels in the past Andhra governements.
It only proves again the perception of the people towards populist policies than action will turn into votes.

'Naidu's arbitrary decisions'
by Sachchidanand Dhar on May 11, 2004 05:27 PM

Sir,
The great NTR was a great believer in Vastu Shastra, had the entrance of Vidhan Sabha and Secretariat changed, to help retain power. This did not help-he lost power as well as life.Chandra Babu had all rooms above his room permanently vacated, so that there would be nobody sitting above chief minister( On the advice of some Vastu Shashtri)-now he has lost power.H.D Devegauda had one extra step dug in the ground to make three steps in the Prime Minister's residence. His exit was unsavoury too. Some one got a tigress doped and skinned alive, her blood drained-(in full view of her brother in the next cage, who stopped eating after that) presumably for some politically related achievement. Director of the zoo was presumably an accomplice. Nothing has been found out so far- fate of the politician is unclear too.
All this goes on to prove that any one who is not in direct touch with spirit of India-but wants to model it after some god-forsaken Foren-Country, will be rejected by the people- and ultimetely fall, just like Turks, Moghuls and British went, o matter how much help they take from military sources or spiritual sources.
Thank You
S.Dhar

OK I understand you ,but how can you say that only computerization would create the solution of all the problems of the state . No one can deny the fact that Chandrababu is an icon for the CMs of rest of the state in the respect how he handled the investors in IT sector, but there are so many problems within the farmers and common people which were also of prime concerns. This things should have been dealt much seriousness too . I will really appreciate Chandrababu for having the guts and forcing the people to work in return of their salaries in governmental organizations.
Hats off to Chandrababu. But I think his party should take a lesson from this.
Remember overall development can't be possible unless the villages develop.Villages are our assets.

naidu's defeat
by swarna on May 11, 2004 02:55 PM

Adulteration of seeds and fertilisers & massive profiteering of middlemen are responsible for most of the thousands of farmers deaths in AP. Mr. Naidu did
nothing in this regard. Dr Rajasekhar Reddy does not talk of any of these at all.

No farmer wants free power. But all of them want reasonably priced power of good quality without any interruptions or cuts.

Another reason for Naidu's defeat is he asked the government employees to work and take salary. They are for the last 4 decades are fully habituated to take salaries without working. Thus he bacame terribly unpopular with million of government employees. This is another reason.

Also Mr Naidu did nothing to prevent total commercialisation of education, health care and religion and total criminalisation of politics.
Ofcourse inspite of all the above Mr Naidu is undoubtedly the best CM AP ever had.

basics
by soumik on May 11, 2004 02:08 PM

The fate of Naidu is an example for all to come ,though being the most admired CM in the country he lost badly.Naidu was popular in all parts of India apart from the state he governed AP ,it is because he forgot the basics .In a developing nation like India the pillars of development are health & primary education .Naidu got the best of technical people to Hyderabad ,but then computerisation is not a marker for the development in a poor state like AP which has been at the mercy of nature aters years of drought and failing crops . The whole world thought even us sitting outside had the same feeling the Naidu was a dynamic person who connected villages through the computer ,but the reality was the computers did not do the job it was meant for ,he never used the the feedback he got using them .The feed back was that the state badly required measures to correct the unrest among the farmers ,the naxals etc .It is important to know that the naxals too come from society ,they also have some points which needs to be addressed ,you cannnot just ignore them by crushing their movement .The lesson is however popular you may be outside , in politics you have to deliver or the people will .

elections 2004
by naren on May 11, 2004 02:03 PM

1.He thought electors are fools and they can be bought by one crore gifts and concentrating them in the last year i.e,5 th year.
2.He was always anti govt.employees on whom he has to rely on all his policies, security, buget and the great elections.
3.He left farmers in lurch when they faced problems like drought.
4.He was mainly profit oriented and bent upon helping industrialists for selfish needs of one section.
5.He concentrated mainly more on publicity than on development.
6.Just a powerpoint presentation does not solve the basic needs of the people.
