Secularism and Sikhs

Just a small rejoinder to the previous post highlighting the so-called double standards of the BJP.

It is pertinent to note that the number and frequency of communal clashes has REDUCED in the last few years that the BJP has been on the ascendent.
It could be sheer coincidence, but it could also be rooted in the reality that it is the so-called "Secular" parties that have a real vested interest in keeping the communal cauldron boiling -so that they can continue to position themselves as the champions of the Indian minorities.

Whatever the true nature of the BJP, you must give them credit for raising truly secular issues - the sadak, bijli, paani during assembly polls & India Shining now - and therefore altering the rules of engagement in elections away from the caste- and religion- dominated issues of yesteryear.
What sez you to that?

Why double talk....
by kulmohan on May 05, 2004 10:11 PM

Why double talk.... Will the thousands of muslims forget Gujrat and Modi either... Neither will those hindus forget who lost a kin in the backlash in muslim majority areas.
Is a riot good for anyone??? BJP wasn't a step behind the congress in the misuse of official machinary to sponsor the gujrat riots.

I am just wondering why does Indian Media always show pictures of Sonia Parivar all smiling and shiny and pictures of BJP leaders in angry and funny faces?

Do you get some money per picture from the Sonia Parivar? Or you can't help but throw away ethics and take sides?

If you think that the sikhs will not forget 1984 , then what makes you think that India will forget the
hypocricy of the party itself which campaigns on the name of Ram Rajya and then says that India is a secular state .More over they want to rule the country on the name of Ram and promote the same to the outside world and then talk about the minorities ...
You need to understand that india is a secular state and for centuries we have respected all the religions and that their is no hindutava drive...
In this nation their could be only one drive that is the INDIAN drive....
