Let Sehwag enjoy his role in his profession
by Anupam Choudhury on Apr 18, 2004 09:26 AM

Sir.
Why only Sehwag to campaign for Mr. Verma, why not the whole team and other renouned sportsmen. Is it because Sehwag is from his colony.
A player who has come after a month is tired , needs time to take rest before gettint ready for his marriage.Since the election is round the corner ,don't you think Mr. Verma is utilising him just for the sake of grabing votes.
Yours truly

Shewag, you cannot wear saffron on the field. So this wont work. Instead, play cricket.

Sehwaq to campaign for BJP
by B.Chandra Mohan on Mar 31, 2004 10:32 AM

It is not good idea to involve the players in politics who are currently playing for India. They may lose concentration on cricket or any game not only sehwag.Politicians are cashing the image of the players in public while campaigning.

Thanks and rds

Virendra Sehwag contesting elections - not a sporting game
by Leeyen Francis on Mar 31, 2004 10:30 AM

It is with great surprise to know that such a renowned sportsman is getting himself involved in what could be called not a sporting game. Politics is never known to be sporting and a sportsman of the caliber of Sehwag is not called for.

I believe that our sportsman should keep themselves away from such matters as their fans and the nation at large hold them in high esteem. Instead they should dedicate themselves to the game itself in improving the game and those budding and upcoming players who sometimes though being very talented do not get a fair chance to show their talents due to some circumstances.

Hence if our sportsman leave politics to the politicians and do the things that God has given them the talent for the things they do best.

Hope this website carries this message of mine to a much higher level of propogation and media so that every Indian who is a lover of the game and has sincere recognition for the sportsman and the game will also think likewise and I am confident that the game will surely rise to a higher dimension in our country and not politics.

Thanks to rediff and hope my sincere request mad e above is taken into consideration.

campaign for BJP
by Karthikeyan on Mar 31, 2004 09:56 AM

It is really a shocking news. Let the retired cricketers/players do it anything in politics. But, Shewag, who is playing now and expecting a long career in future should not "express" himself as a "player of a party". He should be the "Player of the Country" and should not let himself to identify with a political party. "Veeru" should make his fans/people happy by playing good cricket but not politics.

Bad Shot (Sehwag campaining)
by Tapas on Mar 31, 2004 07:57 AM

This will be tragedy for Indian cricket. You can be sure that his game will decline.

Worse, if any other member of Indian team campains for a rival party, say congress, it will sow the seeds of differences. However one may deny such differences and say that these two are independent, human nature is not a machine that can treat them in isolation. The effects will carry to the field.
Although I am a BJP supported, I think this is a bad shot from Sehwag.
