Even if the Congress does 70 % of what it has promised in the manifesto, it would be far more effective than the total lack of progress of the NDA rule. The only high of the NDA reign has been institutionalising corruption which it has mastered into a fine art. That it also was supposed to provide proper governance was soon forgotten when they came to power. Because retaining their seat was far more important (for such first-timers ones who never had any power in their political wilderness) than governance. People, its imperative that a secular government like the Congress comes to power. The saffronites will ruin the country. Think. Vote Congress.

Can the rediff team put the whole manifesto as soft copy. It will let us know the agenda of the party, as well as we can at least remember what they have promised.

BRING BACK RAO

The clarion call for the congress would be bring back rao and merge the old rival/warring factions. While the manifesto and comments should be very silent towards the BJP and its feel good agenda, all efforts should be made to avoid criticising on their mistakes of 5 years. It must be remembered tht for the first time a coalition govt could complete its full 5 year term any attempt to pin point at them wud only give them sympathy. Its high time the congress brings back the old Rao and project him as the next occupant of 7 Race Course Rd.for he proved in his tenure that Politics is the art of the possible. for sure if, RAO is not there, the congress can be reduced to a 101 seats only and not more. Let us a suppose Rao is brought back, then the best possible compromise with Pawar is near. With that the defectors who just found a new leader and a hope for power in bjp, will stage a come back. So the mathematics would work as follows : Congress wining approx 198 seats, NCP another 14 seats and allies of the congress 20 seats. with this game, if the rest of non nda freinds abstain from voting for/against the govt, Rao will be back in his saddle.
