The conclusion too early

Dear Pankaj Upadhyaya
I think you are jumping to the conclusion regarding your first impression of Solapur city.I myself is very much proud of my beloved city Solapur.Pls concentrate on Mr Advani's one day program in city.Don't pass your cursory comments wrt to our city.Get connected with right kind of people for getting the correct information of this historic city.
Whenever the mention of Solapur comes the foremost thing that comes to mind is of the four martyres from Solapur who sacrificed their lives for the freedom struggle of our beloved motherland.
Also the common language here is not kannada but also Marathi,Telgu,Hindi,Gujarati that is why it is called as mini India
To learn all and more of this you have to stay longer here.So don't complain about baked look but remember the freedom struggle.

Regarding the article by Pankaj Upadhyaya
by N.Anand Rao on Mar 15, 2004 04:52 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Sh.Pankaj,
The correct word would have been HOMA rather than home. It is a place where the HOMA is carried out and HOMA is nothing but what they call in North India as Havan. Thus the word HOME does not really fit in here.
With regards
N.Anand Rao

I also belong to Solapur and reasonably proud of its history.
The comment about 'baked look' is something which mother nature has given to Solapur. We so called humans greats though not doing anything to help rectifing it either.

Its all fare to say that Solapur has great history in freedom fighting and not long ago Solapur was a hub for trextile business and once clothing produced in Solapur used to be exported to europe.

One question worth asking is where the city stands today? All other cities in Maharashtra are desparately trying to get companies and invest in their city by bringing their infrastructure, Solapur
sadly could not hold on its textile prowess and all its mills went down one after another.

Being pround of one's city is good we all educated citizens of Solapur need to ask ourselves what can we do together to help this historic city rise to its golden days?

Amit.

Whats the real reason for the opposition to yatra
by santanu shome on Mar 15, 2004 03:23 PM

before the start of the yatra there was lot of opposition.a PIL WAS FILLED AGAINST IT.CONGRESS petetioned the president to stop it.I donnot see any communal frenzy due to the yatra. Then what was the real reason to oppose it.was it to curry favour with a particular section of minority population or was the opposition to instil a fear among minorities. If a person is accectable as dp. PM and home minester cannot he take a yatra. So what was the real reason for the opposition

Advani's skipping large parts of Maharashtra
by Suresh D. Koondaje on Mar 15, 2004 03:09 PM

Some parts of Maharashtra may be die-hard Congress - but there are still an equal number of parts where the RSS , and hence the BJP, is immensely popular.Your statement that he is perhaps skipping the safeones, and avoiding theno-hope-ones seems very enlightened.
