Tulakan is not a term of disrespect. It is just a term.Only Sindh province of India was subjugated by Arab Moslems. Rest of India was attacked by Central Asian Moslems who proudly called themselves Turks. They happen to be part of Turkish heritage in central Asia-which dominted the silk trade route from China and Spice trade route from India.Earlier it was a term of pride. Now it is associate with disrespect because it is in the mind. Lower caste people in India before Gandhi - found that their caste term was leading to disrespect. So Gandhiji devsed the term "Harijan". It kept the low caste people happy for some time. But after some time "Harijan" too was considered to be a term of disrespect. So "Scheduled Caste" was devised. The current term of respect is "Dalit".So a term of respect once can become a term of disrespect some other time. It depends on the way it is uttered, and how does mind receive it. Thank you. S.Dhar
What frustrating conclusion one can come to?One of your readers has rightly expressed the fear, emanating from the Rath yatra, that it may precipitate episodes of the bloody communal violence the country has haplessly witnessed.Following the right wing insurgence in the Indian politics, the politics of hatred by the RSS,have flourished and sought an intitutional patronage.So-called harbingers of change like Advani, who should be rightly tried in the court of law for causing communal violence, have unfortunately become ministers in a democratic country like India.People are not fool to realize that what the BJP led co-alition has done for the country. One need not be told by organizing these kind of yatras whether the country is shining or diming. The objective to be achieved is clear:to create a systematic fear psychosis in the minds of people. The poor is concerned with earning its daily bread and butter than with the political rhetoric propogated by the so-called yatras, which achieve nothing but simply create the fear psychosis.During communal riots who suffer the most not Advani or Thackeray, but the poor whose daily earnings are paralysed.Hunger results in violence killing the innocent
Thank u for introducing kottaimedu to ur readers. The insensivities of our people clearly reflected when we speak about religion. It is a big industry employing several million people in the name of faith. Any party who thrives in sectarian & religious policy divide the people, hence, the nation. In modern times harping on centuries old ideas in the name of faith is ridiculos.A nation is stronger only by education, discipline and research in modern technologies. It is only the strong economy which make YOU PROUD.rest is humbug.mmsahil
