George Iype and Advani's yatra
by Karangara on Mar 11, 2004 08:57 PM

Advaniji, the Deputy prime minister of India is making one of the historic journey to meet and greet the common men of India.

I see lot of negativism (which is increasingly common among keralites) in Mr. George Iype's reporting. Criticism is good. But negativism is dangerous.

So far we have seen Rediff is different from other typical Indian media, which are very negative in nature.

If Advani's yatra ruins plan of peoples and their normal life, then such kind of yatra is not needed.I think this will take negative impact in elections for BJP.

Nothing new - it is Mundane
by Arun on Mar 11, 2004 02:10 PM

Hi all,

It is nothing new to people living in Chennai. Such tariff jams are commonplace. The irony is it normaly happens during the peak hour... When VIPs like PM/DP/President or other visit Chennai, the protocol goes for a toss. The protocol department which has the onus of maintaining the itenary of the visiting VIPs is hardly publiched on paper in advance. Only that all using the public roads go an hour or so late to their respective destinations.

Apart from this, on the occassion, all sundary politians and followers take advantage to the fullest possible.

These guys, irrespective of political parties, dont understand the hardship of common people, whose belly depend upon the days chore.

I normally thing of writing to President Dr.Abdul Kalam, when every he plans to visit chennai. I respect him and his crave for meeting young and budding scientist like him in small school. Butloss to public is very high.

I dont say that they should not visist, but can they not do it at proper time and with proper mode. Think it over.... One can mean lots to people by mere changing way one does it.

Advani's trip causing traffic jam
by Sandip Joglekar on Mar 11, 2004 01:50 PM

I have faced such problems when President Abdul Kalam visited Pune last year.
This will continue even when Sonia Gandhi or Vajpeyi will visit your towns for election campaign, as in our country most of the times we do not have good roads/alternative roads, thus any such event can just block the whole city activities.

advani's yatra
by vidyanath gururajan on Mar 11, 2004 01:26 PM

eminent leaders like advani and his party should have thought about the chaos on the normal life of public(disruptions of traffic) before they materialised such a yatra, if they are really meant to be working for people(political leaders!!??)

Traffic Jam
by Vijay on Mar 11, 2004 01:14 PM

"....hundreds of people either missed their trains or buses or reached home late at night...."

There is nothing to cry about. This is only a small fraction of inconvenience faced by the public through out the year due to agitations and hartals by red and other hues.
