Opportunitistic Politics
by lal on Feb 25, 2004 04:08 AM

The politicians, realizing that the BJP is going to return to the power, want to have a slice of the Pie. WHat else can be said about this utterly unimaginable change of mood of several politicians...

I feel pity about our inability to show these politicians their real place - Streets...

Dont these people have any self esteem?

eek...

This was expected. But, for BJP, it is a big blunder. There is a saying in our country that means - Once spit, does not taken back. If this has to be done (retract back), why you put the step forward? Really shameful.

This is a good step.

It would have tarnished the image of the saffron had they not acted upon this in time at this time of people going to the polls in a few weeks time.

A very welcome decision
by shiv on Feb 24, 2004 01:34 PM

I feel this decision could prove to be a momentous decision in this country's political scenario. Vajpayee has again shown the courage that makes him the towering political visionary of out times. When a political party associates itself with a criminal, it deals a blow to the goal of a progressive democratic society.

Hopefully, this will set a precedent that other parties try and match. Parties today should realise that democracy allows anyone to pursue their ideology - as long as it is done in a lawful, principled way.

Though much newsprint has been spent in discussing whether India is 'actually' shining or not, this definitely adds a shade or two of lacquer to my vision of India.

dp yadav's admission into BJP
by akhilesh agarwal on Feb 24, 2004 12:44 PM

It is heartening to note that BJP has cancelled DP Yadav's admission into the party after consultations with the PM and DPM. However, the question which comes to the mind is in the first place why a known criminal was admitted in the presence of Naidu, reportedly after the decision was taken at the highest level. Why is it necessary for objections to be raised and only then the admission is cancelled ?
BJP should not have admitted him in the first place, and the decision speaks poorly of PJP's commitment to morality in public life.
