No underestimation of Smriti!
by Ekanath Deshpande on Apr 23, 2004 02:34 PM

Smriti Malhotra Irani has taken the gauntlet to face the finest lawyer and staunch spokesman of the Congress.
I hope it will be one of the keen contests despite withdrawals in favour of the shrewd vakilsaheb!
The atmosphere for the BJP has improved for greater strides politically.Sibal should beware that only catchy and wizardry approach,& political gimics may land him in a quandary!
Wish Smriti a sweeping viable VICTORY!!

i love this govt.of india (B.J.P)
by avinash dhage on Apr 21, 2004 07:13 PM

I love the Atalji because this man is the verry powerful man and he knows as well as handle the indian cituation and he is the most popular man.not only in India all over in the world.so in this period India is not any way witout the Atalji so the this time again the govt.of BJP is the rulling party on the Indian parliment.

What a contrast!
by EMVY on Apr 21, 2004 02:53 AM

With almost all political parties discredited in the public mind, the choice for the voter has shrunk to that between the candidates of different parties.
If that is true, as it indeed is, look who is fighting the eminent lawyer Kapil Sibal! One of the countless "actresses" of a TV serial!
Given the proverbial brevity of public memory, not many of our countrymen are likely to remember how brilliantly sibal had defended justice Ramasamy who had been sought to be impeached by parliament!
And when one realizes that a mere actress of the small screen is pitted against the legal luminary, one understands how democracy and elections tend to demean intellectuals who, understandably, therefore, give politics a wide berth.
I would have been happy if some bright lawyer like Arun Jaitley had been fielded against Sibal. I hold no brief either for the Congress or for Sibal. Indeed,
I have always been as hostile to this party as to most others.
But it speaks for the bankruptcy of talent in the BJP that it could find nobody other than a nonentity like Irani to contest against Sibal.
