Due to Lalji Tandon episode, Congress should have taken advantage of by fielding Priyanka Gandhi against Mr.Vajpayee, as you can see this episode has given a very bad name to BJP, a party which believes in making Big Business Houses and Big Industrialists shine at a cost of poor and workers. BJP feels if the Industrialists and Big Business Houses are shining means India is shining, for them only these are India and not the Poor People, who constitute about 80@ of India's Population.
It is sad that in India the politicians are still indulging in an ever increasing competition to show a poltician of another party as guilty and culprit of the Big Indian Mess. The truth is that they are all alike.Infact, they are just not interested to think about a common man's problems.Most of them do not seem to have any idea of where the country is headed, and perhaps cannot be bothered.Patriotism,public service is a cliche and lip service for them.The successive governments and politicians in India are all to be blamed for the rampant corruption and the degeneration,in as much as they like to blame the government of the neighbouring country for promoting terrorism in India.Both are true and also it is true that it probably suits the such governments to keep the illiterate, ignorant masses of their respective countries,living a life of hardships and hoping against hope. Why else can there be no sincere effort to change and improve the situation? Is it very difficult for a group of 600 odd elected representatives to work for a better India, rather than squander away the public money on narcissistic self presrvation.I have lived for 45 years hoping in vain for a better India.
But the Congress high command rejected the request, as the old guard advised Sonia that "it is not a good political strategy". I believe that Congress did the right thing by not putting Priyanka against Vajpayee. However Congress should deploy Priyanka outside Rae Bareli and Amethi to campaign for the Congress candidates.
