Will Pak allow any Indian Citizen to contest there?
by Prasad on Apr 18, 2004 05:01 PM

Why should we allow anyone to contest in elections who is atleast not our citizen? I don't see any point in it. When I saw him on a News Channel he was so arrogent. He was questioning Indian Government. But before that he should get Indian Citizenship. I don't know why a senior politician and ex- Prime Miniser Mr. Chandra Sekhar doing this favour to him.

Pak nationals' can't contest
by Kannan.V on Apr 17, 2004 01:21 PM

This is an interesting report and it leads to more questions that needs to be answered .

On what basis Mr.Zulficar Ali has been declared as PAK national. If it is because his name does not appear in the electoral list as verified by MrNimesh, then whether thousands of people through out the the country whose names have been left out of electoral rolls can also be considered as PAK nationals if they happen to be muslims? What list did Mr.Mohammad Nassem Khan has produced? Is it PAK electoral rolls? How did he get hold of it? Whether PAK would authenticate it?

On the other hand, what would happen if an illegal immigrant from across the border gets hold of illegal ration card and gets himself enrolled in electoral rolls and then contests the elction? How can the authorities prevent this from happening especially with our corrupt system?

Finally if a person of Pakistan origin becomes an Indian citizen legitimately and contests in election whether he will be allowed to do so and can he bome the PM if he gets elected?

Pak National's can't contest

Had BJP or Congress committed this error, Mr. Chandrashekhar would have made a big political issue out of it. What else can you expect from a man who uses money collected from his 'Padyatra' to build plush 'Bhondsi Ashram'.

Is Election Commission going to do something ????
by Chandrashekhar on Apr 15, 2004 09:21 PM

This is with reference to the news that a Pakistani national (non-Indian national)tried to contest elections from J&K.While EC denied him a ticket,is it going to bring this to the notice of the concerned 'authorities' to throw the said person out of the country ??????
Can we have the 'Rediff.com 'follow up on this 'seriously'?????

Chandrashekhar
