Govt on Holiday
by Amol Dalvi on Apr 28, 2004 12:01 PM

Anyway. When do they work. Even when there are no elections the govt machinery works so pathetically that it would be better if they never worked.

the govt on holiday
by anandrajdas on Apr 20, 2004 07:34 AM

its always told that due to strike or closure of market , for one day itself ,heavy losses is incurred. if the government is on holiday then what is the amount of loss ? we citizen are been told of good of government , is this the way something good is going to happen to the country.? moreover the goverment employees take the maximun ill advantage of it . what a hypocracy. talk good of the country but never do it ,for the selfish needs . in this context i think the employees are highest payed , as they get payed for not working. then why ask votes from common person as nothing concrete has been done , where as the govt personels talk all the pleasure ,liesure and advantages.

IS GOVT. ON HOLIDAYS ?
by ajaybajpai on Apr 16, 2004 02:46 PM

No Govt. on this earth can enjoy holidays. I am surprised to learn that in the largest democratic country how can it be imagined of. Ofcourse, code of conduct of EC prevails but that is also a Governance. An individual is not the Govt. Mr. X may be enjoying but can not be said that on his behalf Govt. is enjoying holidays. Which train did not start for its destination, or which flight could'nt take-off as Civil aviation Minister seems to be busy in his election Compaign. I am really surprised that Govt. is always mismatched with few individuals because they are ministers ! In fact Govt. is public, people carry on their job to do. They do not even take a few minutes rest. Democracy runs on the wheels of these common citizens.
My simple submission is this that Govt. means people of the country. They are ought to work. They can not sleep because they have to go miles ahead. Do not atoll a Chair , because the Chair person is elected by the people. Give the most importance to a common man who is still busy in making roads, crushing stones and what not and moreover he is the deciding factor as to who will occupy the throne. Hence throne belongs to every common person of this country.

Government is on Holidays during Elections
by Prof Aggarwala Lt Col (retd) on Apr 16, 2004 05:10 AM

The EC members sre bureaucrats. Bureaucrats never take any responsibility, for the decisions taken by them. They are never accountable to anyone. Either the departmental heads are responsible for bureaucrats' stupid delays and decisions or the politicians, never a bureaucrat. If they find a decision difficult, they stop all work. Files go in hybernation. The suffering public and persons responsible for the jobs somehow manage to pass the crisis, and the bureaucrat sits over his haunches, and tells them the virtues of indecision.

So now, the EC bureaucrats have found a way of equating a donkey with a horse. As they want to show that during election no politician has taken advantage of their government position, they have stopped the government' to function at all. All horses converted into donkeys. No action, no complaints, and so no blames to EC. Let the country go to dogs, let the work come to a standstill

A sudden enemy attack, sudden disasters such as earthquakes, floods, rains, communal riots, spinning of the earth and need for keeping international relations, all go on working, not the bureaucrat, with the ostrich mentality to keep the head in sand, the problems end!

Bearucrats on Holidays during Election Days.
by thukrallajpatrai on Apr 15, 2004 07:40 AM

Really it is a national wasteage and lack of work culture. Babus should not work under the fear of boss buit should work willingly to serve the nation as they are geeting salary fromthe public excheques i.e. out of hardearned money from the public by way of taxes. The Secetaries, under secretaries, dy secretaries should be competent enough to extract work fromthe subordinates.

Not to be proud of
by Bala Venkata on Apr 15, 2004 07:16 AM

I don't see anything to be proud from this article not that the article suggests so. That the 'chalta hai' attitude getting exacerbated by events such as polls is pathetic to say the least. As a 'consumer of government services' I must say this is a deplorable situation and needs to be corrected. Let it be known that the public sector should continue providing it services irrespective of 'external events' such as polls.

Duty??
by Manoj Khatod on Apr 14, 2004 04:04 PM

And this same govt staff cry foul when they get compitition from Pvt sector. In my opinion all the comp should be privatised and all these people should be left to serch there own future then only they will learn to perfomr their duties. It is unfortunate the tone of this article was off blaming the govt rather then asking or intiating the reasoning with Govt servents to do their duties without force.
