i fully endorse jairam rameshji!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by abhishek.b.desai on Apr 17, 2004 07:07 PM

As a matter of fact,it hurts me when people with different socio-economical as well as educational background are reluctant to understand that any developmental project ,even whose seeds are sown today takes a longer duration of time to get accomplished.
Dear friends, today what we are able to avail the basic necessities of life such as t.v.,fax,computers ,were all given a concrete base during the regime of late shri rajiv gandhi .similarly, our economy was liberalised during the regime of shri narsimharaoji and today we are lucky to reap the benefits for what they did during last ten years. It's like a legacy,we can't say today that anil ambani or mukesh ambani gave a broader outlook to reliance industries.
Moresoever, when we talk about the congress as a leadreless party then i feel pity on such people who can shower praises on narendra modi or pramod mahajan who bursts out what ever comes into their mouth.but are refuting to see the likes of jairam ramesh, ahmed patel, salman khursheed or manmohan singh whose mannerism and attitude reflects their qualities which is unquestionable.
anyways, congress can give a better government with a pluralistic approach.

Why Sonia cannot be the PM?
by B.Gautam on Apr 16, 2004 07:08 AM

In these modern days, perhaps, a fast spreading mania of degreed education, to which luminaries like late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, great philosopher and former President of India and late Dr.AlbertEinstein, great physicist etc., strongly opposed,is the primary victim for present confusions and chaos!Present generation has totally forgotten purpose for any action as no action is purpose oriented, though it may exist in papers! What is the purpose of a Prime minister for a country? It is surely to ensure a country's steady progress!Only valued qualities such as honesty, sincerety, devotion to purpose, courage, strong conviction and above all spirit of sacrifice will lead country to right direction! As people not only of this Nation but of entire world know Indian Histiry and cannot forget the noble services rendered by Nehru's family to this country, in spite of several obstacles, either due to new nation after Independence, or vested interests against real progress by which their interests would be affected. Nehru's family sacrificed their properties and family members! But, Indians loot India in crores by various scams, not foreigners! So, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi will be the saviour!

Mr.Jairam Ramesh is correct
by Sunil on Apr 15, 2004 10:07 AM

Dear Friend,

To understand what Mr.Jairam has to say we will have to grasp a few basic principles of how economy of any country in the world functions i.e. closed v/s open economy.

The fundamental to any successful economy across the world is an open, transparent and liberalized economy. Once any govt as a matter of principle decides to liberalise economy, progress & development follows. One can check this by studying the most successful economies across the world.

Liberalisation of economy broadly means opening up the economy to Foreign Institutional Investors (FII's), encouraging Foreign Direct Investment, Privatisation i.e. reducing the bureaucratic and government control, reducing the rate of intrst thereby boosting consumerism and consequently boosting the economy, involving FDI's and private sector to build the infrastructure etc.

Once you put India on the tracks of liberalised economy, the driver of the vehicle may change but the progress will follow.

And dear friend the credit of putting India on these tracks goes to Mr.Manmohan Singh of Congress 10 yrs back, the results of which are slowly visible now. BJP bitterly opposed these policies and now claim credit

the jairam ramesh nterview
by satish on Apr 14, 2004 11:04 AM

i respect jairam ramesh as an intellectual but politically he has not succeded to upgrade congress party, not because BJP has been largely successful but congress remains a leaderless dying party

nevertheless it is still not too late for BJP who should sack Narendra Modi even at this stage if that person as a CM has no scrupples to resign on Godhra perticularly so after clear vindiction by Supreme Court. Earlier BJP disassociates from Modis, Togdias, Shingals and likes better it is for BJP& NDA

Which planet was Jairam Ramesh in 1980/1990
by B. N. Singh on Apr 14, 2004 08:44 AM

When i read this comment : "mobiles did not exist 10 years ago. Internet did not exist 10 years ago. ", I started wondering on which planet was Mr. Jairam living in 80s and 90s?

By 1987, there were more than a million cellphone subscribers in US alone. TDMA IS-54 digital standard was deployed in 1991 in US (quickly followed by GSM and CDMA in in 1992/1993). I just won't speak about Internet because even IITs were also using emails in early 90's.

Please get your facts right if you want to claim some credit.
