After reading your view which strongly connect the on-going Indo-Pak cricket match and the elections that are around the corner, I can all but deem it a childish, shortsighted and an immature view. With the observation that a loss for India may not bode well for the ruling party, Mr. Sopariwala has taken the voters of India and their preferences for granted. While the results of the match would not affect village areas as you pointed out, it also will not affect other urban and semi-urban areas. That is because people in these areas are educated enough to make a clear distinction between elections and cricket. Any emotions regarding cricket are unlikely to carry over to elections because I believe the masses have atleast that much sense. Mr. Sopariwala's views are sorely disappointing, and they prove that an education at the LSE and 20 years of observing elections have not really given him much in terms of level-headed analytical capabilities with respect to the people of his own country. I am sure the common man out on the street is capable of being more sensible in his approach than has been pointed out by Mr. Sopariwala.
1) Any tyro in cricket will tell you that the entire series is FIXED. 2) Indian top order's deliberate, stupid, and disastrous batting performance in the 2nd Test,is an indication...only to ensure Ganguly will play in the 3rd Test, and make it "interesting"...! 3) The Indians won the ODIs,hence it would be in the fitness things,I suppose that Pakistan win the third Test, and the series... 4) Unless, ofcourse the "bookies" have different ideas...! ! !
The news item is good. But I strongly feel BJP should be given an absolute majority to prove thier worth. With the present mix up parties as NDA , India has surely progressed in many areas - Economy, Relations with PAK , No major communal unrest etc, IN fact, In Kerala where the voters are highly "educative" , they have alternately elected communist / congress rep - but absolutely no industrial economic progress so far. BJP should open the account in Tiruvanathapurem
We the Indians are religious persons and believes in Karam, so far Janam is concerned it dose not meant, specially for female candidature.
If we believe in that theory, than what is wrong If Mrs. Sonia Gandhi is the candidate for Prime Minister from Congress Party ?
Just think, If Mr Mushraff joins BJP, will BJP allow him or projects him as Prime Ministerial candidate ? Probably Yes !!!!!! Because Mushraff is Born Indian and his mother & father was Indian ?
Will u accept him? Can we accept him ? Can we forgive him for Kargil war ?
Its a shameless issue for BJP and all other anti congress parties that they r raising issue for foreign origin ? Where was ABV, LKA, Pramod Mahajan, Venkaia, George, PA Sangama and all other when she was Leader of Opposition. Probably they r afraid from the popularity of Sonias acceptance in public and her recent visits thats y BJP and its allies r raising this issue.
When any Indian took place of the highest authority in other countries why can be it possible in India? Mr. Ramgulam was Indian, Mr. Mahendra Choudhary was Indian? One of them was President for Mauritius and one was in Fiji?
When Mrs. Vasundhra Raje Scindhia can take oath as Chief Minister of Rajasthan inspite she her self is born in Nepal how can BJPs leadership think for banning Mrs. Sonia Gandhi?
When Mother Teresa awarded Nobel Prize for Peace, we Indian Pride, Why ? Mother Terasa was not born in India, but she passed her total life in India or can say she done his Karam in India !
So think of that, BJP is Baseless Joothi Party nothing else.
If loss and win in the cricket match could begin to impact on the poll then better cancel the election and let us play the game and decide who is the winner BJP or No BJP. ha....ha....ha....
