One of the advantages, I see in BJP over Congress(I), is the courage shown by the so called BJP High Command, to outster any senior leader from the party on the grounds of disciplinary actions. Take for example Mr. Kalyan Singh in UP, SS Waghela in Gujarat etc. Kalyan Singh humble retured to the party and Waghela oined Congress(I), but living in the fear that he can be out og Guj politics any moment.
Take the case of Congree(I) in Kerala. The Senior most leader Karunakaran and his son Muralidharan made it a daily routine to abuse Sonia. They even tried to split the party and pull down Antony lead Congress State Govt.
And see where they stands now, Karunakaran is rewarded with Rajyasabha seat and his son Murali is the State Minister for Electricity now. Karunakaran's daughter Padmaja is a candidate for LS election. Feel so pity on the paethetic position of the High Command Madam.
Being a Keralite, it is quite funny to see the daily comedy shows preformed by Congress leaders, from chotta leaders to top leaders. Keep it up, u all congress men. The future is yours...
As others have pointed out it is not the same Congress Party that have taken part in independence. I would like to inform Dr Wajid Sajjad Jafri about this. None of the parties running today had to do anything with independence. I do not think we should vote a particular party because of what they did in distant past. Also, we do not have the same people who got us independence to vote for congress. I do not see any degrading tone towards Congress. This party that is running now has no motive. Their only goal seems to uproot the present government. Well we do not want such govt which is so selfish. This part do not have leaders based on leadership qualities but based on heredity. Heredity does not necessarily means good leadership skills. Anyway the dynasty of congress destroyed the culture. Even though we have IIT and IIM european countries have University to learn Sanskrit not Indian. I agree with Venkat that no party is good enough, but the best bet is BJP. Because even though old, there are some leaders in form of Vajpayee and Advani who can lead the country. Sonia Gandhi can be better, but she needs to prove it. Family does not mean anything. Bad NDA doesnot = better Congress.
Divide and rule . You forgot to mention this. How congress cut powers of state goverments and formed new states in northern india. Leaving UP intact but dividing Punjab.
Also you have missed one of their biggest achievements 1984 riots,which were managed and run by congress goverment.

Sir You donnot expect that those who started the congress movement which ultimately got our country the freedom, which you cannot deny ,cannot be alive today to be the torch bearer for the movement.Those who believed in the congress philosophy joined the movement and are the torch bearer for the same part today.It is the same cong being carried forwarded by the people who believe in its ideology.if somebody's father dies it doesn't stop him from being a part of the family.The family continues with new mwmbers.
Man this article was written by someone who hates the congress. All he needed to do was write about the 50 years of "non-rule" and that would have sufficed !!
What mentioned is absolutely correct. Current generation don't know the Congress History. Regarding centralised politics is applicable to all Indian Political Party. Like V.Naidu is President of BJP but all final decisions comes from Mr. Bajpai / Mr.Advani under the recommendations of middleaged Mahajan,Jetli,Sushma etc. So high command is in every party Mulayam Singh Yadav, Sarad Pawar and above all Balathakre. To certain extend this high command system is not applicable to left parties, because they have cader politics - but there also there is powerful groups which make decisions.
