Hi Sam,

I agree with you that the Congress laid the roots, but that is no way justifying the prime question, does the congress have anyone else other than the Gandhi family to lead. They have, but sadly they do not look beyond Gandhi-clan. Typical dynasty politics, which is the reason for the congress meltdown.

Now to the foreigner issue, I am totally with u with regards to Sonia's orgins to lead the country, but the issue here is of her credentials, which I am sorry she does not have.

I maybe wrong, but as far as i know even in the US only naturally born Americans are allowed to contest for presidency, so people talking of her as a foreigner is not a non-issue.

What's her view on the current economic situation, if she says India is not shining, then what are the facts she has to prove otherwise ??, what's her plan to create the jobs that her party has promised, what's her agriculture policy ??, Sonia has no answers, she still depends upon people near her to answer, talks prepared speeches. Let her come on a debate where nothing is prepared and I am sure she will struggle on most answers.

I am sorry we cannot accept such a person to lead our country.

Why not Musharaff?
by Rakesh on Apr 04, 2004 09:09 PM

Then we can invite Musharaff to rule India as he was also born in India. He is more Indian than Mother Theresa and Annie Besant. How can this stupid intellectuals draw comparison between Annie Besant and worthless sonia? This guy must remember that Annie Besant and Sister Nivedita did not fight british to become a minister, their motto is purely service to the country. He better read the books written by Annie Besant and sister Nivedita to understand their ideas about India. BJP is not denying that the foundations for development laid by Nehru. They are accusing the nehru followers who totally bankrupted the country. Indians are not fools like you to reject congress.

Sonia Gandhi is not Mother Teresa
by unnikrishnan on Apr 04, 2004 05:52 PM

Mr. Sam Pitroda, can you honestly say why you are an American citizen. It may be the money and your career that attracted you but definitely not the love towards that country. It is the case with Mrs. Sonia Gandhi also. Even if she live here for another 50 years, she will not have the same love and affection for this country that she will be having for Italy. This is the reason why she did not become an Indian citizen for 16 years after her marriage with Sh. Rajiv Gandhi.

You cannot compare Mother Teresa with Sonia Gandhi. Mother Teresa never wanted to rule this country. Moreover, it was her own choice to start the charity work in India. Nobody had invited her to start the charity work in India. Had she ever tried to become a Sonia Gandhi, she also would have faced the same criticism that Sonia Gandhi is facing now.

India is a vast country and have plenty of people much more talented than Sonia Gandhi. The problem is Congress has become a party of one family and is not even utilizing the services of the few talented people left with in the party. Unless they take corrective measures, Congress will become history in few years.
