It is baffling that bits and pieces specialists get the nod while specialists are asked to watch from sidelines. Why do we need a No 7 or No8 to be a batsman even if he is not a Test-class bowler? Or a Wicket keeper to be a better batsman than being a good wicket-keeper? High time teh Selectors went to basics and construct a Team that has 5 0r 6 good batsmen, a top-class wicket-keeper (even if he is a moderate batsman) and 4 or 5 top bowlers. By this logic, Pant would have to compete with Rahane (with Saha as Keeper)and Kuldip come in place of Sundar. And Nadeem ought to have been replaced by Siraj. India would have garnered more wickets with Saha behind the stumps.
