ODI World Cup

The ODI WC should consists of 2 pools of 6 teams each. Top 10 ranked team get auto entry and other 2 to get qualified from qualifiers. The 15 round robin matches to be played in each group. After the preliminary stage, top 4 teams from each group to qualify for Super 8. In Super 8 stage, a team will carry points based on its results against the teams qualifying for the Super 8. A team will play rest of the 4 teams qualifying from the other pool. Top 4 teams from the Super 8 will advance to semi finals. The final will be the 49th match of the WC. 30 pool matches, 16 Super 8 matches and 3 knockouts (SF F), will be just one more match than the WC 2019. But will gave two more teams a chance to play. This will be more interesting and competetive than a WC with 10 team playing round robin 45 matches. ICC should consider this for WC 2023.

Divide 12 test playing nations into 2 groups - higher 6 ranked in top group and lower 6 in bottom group. In top group, teams will play each other on home-away basis, with each series of 3 tests. If both countries want to have more matches in the series, then last 3 matches should be considered for the championship. At conclusion of group matches, the top team in the table qualifies for the final. The 2nd and 3rd team to compete in the qualifier for the final. The last team in the top group to be relegated and replaced with the winner of the bottom group championship. The bottom group matches will be played in the same way as the top group. But here each series to consist of 2 matches. If more matches are played by the two countries in the series, then last 2 matches to be considered for the championship. Here we can have 2 semi finals and the final. The champion team of the bottom group will advance to the top group in the next cycle. The loser of the bottom group final will meet the team finishing 5th in the top group for advancing to the top group. This will ensure more closer contests and opportunity for all the 12 test playing nations. This will be the best option for the test cricket to bring back its popularity. Hope ICC and Big 3 are listening.
