Ashwin's Mankading
by Dalip Danta on Mar 26, 2019 07:36 PM

the rule "The Laws have since been changed so that a bowler may no longer "Mankad" a batsman once he has entered his delivery stride. However, under Law 42.15 it remains legal for a bowler to run out a non-striker who has strayed outside his crease after he has started his run up, but before he has entered his delivery stride" unquote. Ashwin had taken his delivery stride and therefore cannot mankad Butler.

Ashwin's Action

Ashwin had clearly stopped and at the expected time of delivery batsman was in the crease. So i feel umpire was incorrect in giving the batsman out. Umpires, in this case third umpire need to take more responsibility in enforcing the law correctly. As for the appeal less said the better. I would say it is cheating by Ashwin, batsman was not trying to gain any undue advantage
