MATTER OF CONCERN - - - NUMBER FOUR POSITION
by Shilpa Mehta on Jun 24, 2019 11:58 AM

Team India was lucky to avert a defeat against Afgan .

Since it was weak AFG team & our bowlers specially Bumrah &
Shami bowled excellently in death overs , Team India won ,
otherwise any other good team would have pulled the victory .

1. 20-30 runs were short due to slow scoring by MSD &
Jadhav
2. When Viraat can score run a ball even on slow & bowler
friendly pitch , why can't others ??

3. Shankar is not that good a batsman to give him very
important position of number four . Has he ever played on
English wickets ?? No .
4. Its very essential to replace Shankar OR Kedar Jadhav
with DK OR Pant to make middle order strong .

There MUST be a strong batsman at number FOUR position . He must be able to bail out the team if top order fails .

Like once it was Yuvraj & Raina in middle order .

MSD alone always cannot bail you out .

Selfish Tendulkar talking about intent?
by Sebastian Cherukanam on Jun 23, 2019 10:48 PM  | Hide replies

Selfish number one Tendulkar who had to depend on Dhoni and Yuvaraj to finally touch a world cup trophy before retirement is talking about Dhoni's intent? He must watch this video hundred times before passing any such comment on new generation players who play not for the personal records but for the team.

Tendulkar was a highest rungetter for India in WC 2011. Dhoni was a complete failure as batsman except the Final game. Remember, Sachin was instrumental in taking India to final in WC2003 (total 673 runs). Please check the world cup records since 1992 and you will come to know Sachin's contribution!

Resonable thinking Dhoni
by rmkartha on Jun 23, 2019 08:37 PM  | Hide replies

Being most experienced Dhoni tried to stay on else we would have been bowled out.Opener remaining 36 not out after 60 overs and those who played for records can tell commends fearful of their records being wiped off. Not well done, but assume they have learned a good lesson.

It is other way. Dhoni was struggling to rotate the strike. There was nothing extraordinary in Aghanishtan's spin attack. There was not much turn or bounce in the wicket. It was just a slow wicket.... India do not have a specialist batsman at No. 4 and that is a major concern. Another problem is that India has a long tail in Shami, Kuldeep, Chahal and Yuvraj. Pant could have been tried in place of Vijay Shankar. I think India should have at least one left handed batsman (either Pant or Jadeja) in playing eleven instead of Kedar Jadhav. Kedar is just a part time bowler and ordinary fielder.

cricket Wc 2019
by Rajagopalan Nagarajan on Jun 23, 2019 07:43 PM

Pl go back to my comments in the previous edition. As it happened, the front line batsman failed, KL Rahul should play as per his strength. reverse sweep is only a fluke and not a recommended cricketing shot. Every time he tried, he got our. He has not learnt from his mistakes. He also understand that he has to carry on from the beginning and anchor with more responsibility. Look at the other batsman from other country like Srilanka, Newzland, Bangldesh, where every one is fighting tooth and nail for the country. The top order should with care, caution and with responsibility like a test cricket. Understand the positions and accept the responsibility. Again Vijay Shakar, he has not shown his caliber as a batsman. The coach has to pinpoint the role and responsibility of every player especially the batsmen. The Windies is roaring especially Corenell and braithwaith . They all played the IPL with India. Beware of their batting strength like Cris gayle. Hope and their bowlers. watch out for another surprise.

Sanju Samson
by Kadangode chidambaram on Jun 23, 2019 02:03 PM  | Hide replies

India's performance against Afghanistan again highlights the requirement of Sanju Samson at 4 position. Middle order was vulnerable. Rahul, Dhoni, Rohit, Shankar, Jhadav all playing below par. Now I am waiting to see the disastrous performance of Pant also, which will reinforce the argument that Sanju Samson is missed, though none of the Seniors like Sachin, Kapil lack guts in saying Sanju Samson was required. But hats off to Gambhir and Lara who has said the omission of Sanju Samson for the World cup is shocking as well as for 4th position.

they didn't even play rishabh pant as if he is there to make up for only numbers!! shankar sent at no. 4 was outrageous, he didn'e bowl either!! Dhoni looks well set not to score respectably ever again, I don't know the heck is problem with kohli the captain

lack of intent of our batsmen
by bhupendra saxena on Jun 23, 2019 02:00 PM  | Hide replies

Actually it started with Rohit Sharma. He gave too much weightage (Bhaav) to Afg spinners. It affected on himself and also down the line.

Yes. But, it may be only for 1 match. K.L.Rahul does it every time, as if he is playing a test match. For 50 over match, one needs to be agressive, to put pressure on the bowlers.
