LINCOLN JOHN
Let us correct ourselves.
by LINCOLN JOHN on Jun 19, 2019 08:55 AM

Dear MS Dhoni,
It will be a very great gesture to remove the Army tagged gloves or bring a fresh same gloves set and gift it to Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz as a gesture of India's friendliness to all countries in presence of all other players or captains,if possible.
War brings out the worst in people,is what has been learnt by me through a Rtd.Army officer.
Yes freedom is not free, peace is tough to achieve and even tougher to maintain.
Time will tell whether this small act will make a little difference in South Asia, but it is better to try than not attempt at all.
MSD,Sachin Tendulkar,Sunil Gavaskar,Kapil Dev,Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli know best,I guess let them take a call.

Do not agree with Shekhar Gupta
by srinagesh tanikella on Jun 18, 2019 04:58 PM  | Hide replies

Shekhar Gupta, you are known fact that you sell your articles by insulting India and great Indian. You and your Print have always pointed fingers at Indians. Why there is no mention about prayers on ground by Pakistan Players. Is it that you are afraid to point fingers at them. Or your party, congress does not allow you to do that. I don't know why you are happy fingering all those who want's to show their solidarity towards our great Nation. Regarding Dhoni, you do not have any right to take his name. He does not sell his morals and lick boots to earn, like you.

Agreed, but...
by Jai Ho on Jun 18, 2019 03:32 PM

I agree with Mr.Gupta, but then, I also have a problem with religious symbolism and offering of prayers by teams on the playing field. The article would have been well rounded if Mr. Gupta had the courage to raise an objection to that as well and termed such display of religion on the field as unacceptable as well. Separately, was Balakot a minor skirmish where no lives were lost? If yes, then isn't Mr. Gupta is calling the Indian Air Force a bunch of liars?

You Are So Right!
by Anand on Jun 18, 2019 02:26 PM

Shekhar Gupta's is one sane voice in the din of patriotism and nationalism (of a certain kind) taken too far.

Personally, I feel there should be more cricket between the two countries.

Also, as someone has already said, Dhoni is possibly extending his shelf life through such gimmickry. He was great, but everyone is replaceable and should be replaced at the right time.

Absolutely spot on. It comes too late, wrong timing and there is every bit of soothing in the garb of pointing the wrong. An anti nationalist or not i dont know but certainly unnecessary.

What was Dhoni thinking
by Musalmaan Masala on Jun 18, 2019 11:15 AM

I think this "nationalism" nonsense has gone on for too long. First we were made to wear it on our sleeves now Dhoni has changed it to wearing it on our hands
