This was a disaster waiting to happen-not 45 mins of bad cricket or pitch or anything else. The best part is all of our coaches/captains will carry on like "the boys played well" or 45 mins poor cricket or bad luck. We shouldn't have allowed for this position to happen. 1) Sacking Kumble was the worst decision taken by BCCI which started us on a dangerous precedence of player power and saying/doing what is popular , not whats right. 2) How can we have missed Pant in WC team ? 3) How can we not play Shami, a wicket taking bowler on a pitch which has historically supported fast bowlers? 4) Chahal and Kuldeep both have been bowling inconsistently the entire IPL and before that-how can you take two underperforming spinners to WC outside Asia and expect miracles? 5) How can you call up Mayank when you needed an opener to replace Dhawan ? Rahul was better at #4 to stabilise an innings and not an aggressive opener 6) Kartik played against Lanka but was never sent up the order to know whether he can bat in English conditions and yet played in SF ? Senseless? 7) Your teams best bowler - Ashwin - is playing county while your at the WC ? Has this ever happened with any team in a WC ? No-This happens only in india
Great set of players giving it all but absolutely no devils advocate(actually called a coach) to question every decision by captain/Dhoni and improve the team--which is why we are here and yes, this was expected though we prayed we get through.

Very well said. I will add one more point.... Dhoni, Karthik and Pant (all three wicket-keepers) constituting the middle order!.... I have been following cricket for last 50 years and have not come across anything of such type!.... Basically No. 4 spot should always be occupied by a pure batsman or a genuine allrounder, if available (like Yuvraj in the past)

I think Panth and DK should sacrifice WK so that people recognise them as pure batsmen. Because despite Panth's 150s in tests against Aus and England, people are saying he is not needed as there is alreadya WK (Dhoni) in the team

Of course tendulker, we have to depend on Rohit, kkohli and Rahul to give a good start. And, what astart that was. We are not dependent on them. They can come and go and you and manjarekar have to blame MSD and Jaddu for the happening. Wonderful

The other Batsmen made India Win - India were always heavily dependent upon Sachin and Sourav when they were playing for Team India, then also if they failed - Others would perform the job.

LoveDayKaBall sorry I disagree with you. Current Indian team's success rate is much more than that of Saurav's team. This team reached semifinals of WC thrice in 3 Wcs in this decade. And won a WC in 2011. Whereas, Sourav's team reached semis only once. And they never won a WC. Which team's batting lineup is better? And in this team too, when wickets fell, Dhoni and Jadeja batted well to take the match till the very end.
Frontline batsmen failed miserable because of overconfidence, middle order led the fight but in vain because of their limitations & in the end lost the golden opprn. High time to think abt having more young all rounders in the team.
