Player selection for WC suggests personal preferences over performances. KL Rahul is the worst performer in ODIs for the last 2 years...his only performance was the IPL. Ignoring Rayadu, Rahane and Manish Pandey for KL Rahul was the biggest example of favouritism. Karthik is another selection which is awful. Pant should have been always the preferred WK after Dhoni and not as the replacement. The settled no 4 for India should have been either Rahane or Pandey or Rayadu. Mayank should have been the backup cover for Rohit or Dhawan. Ravi Shastri and his politics still rule.
Few FOOL CRICKET FANS & our MEDIA is blaming selection committee for this fiasco , which is totally WRONG .
Selection committee may have found better players than Rayudu , hence they might have ignored him .
And moreover - - - NO NEED TO QUESTION : How many games did MSK Prasad played for India OR What was his performance ?? etc etc - - -
AS A CHIEF SELECTOR HIS JOB IS ONLY TO SELECT THE TEAM & NOT GO THERE IN FIELD & PLAY . A PERSON MAY BE AN ORDINARY PLAYER HIMSELF OR MIGHT NOT HAVE EVEN PLAYED FOR THE COUNTRY BUT HE CAN SURELY BE VERY GOOD SELECTOR OR EXCELLENT COACH ( Example : Ramakant Archrekar )
OR , A person can himself be excellent player but very ordinary selector or coach .
Team selection & being good player himself are two totally aspects . SO DON'T BE FOOLS BY CRITICIZING SELECTION COMMITTEE .
What is wrong if team management is giving chances to yougesters who will serve the country well for many years. Rayudu is approaching 33, has had mixed career, no consistency and an equally bad on field temperament with frequent run ins with fellow players and officials.IPL is no benchmark for good batting skills. its a fun event more suited to entertain with all norms tilted in favour of batsmen.What is Rayudu's performance outside Indian subcontinent? that is the answer.
