It is not a good idea. Riding on the high after the Australia series, Kohli needs to take charge and complete the rout of the Black Caps. He should efinitely play the next two games and ensure that the ODI series in NZ is also won.

He is also a human being. Let him have some rest if he feel so. Why we have to get irritated about it. We may not even be able withstand such kind of pressure even for a day, as these players does. They are making a lot of money but it is not coming so easily for them like Bollywood stars. Playing Cricket is not that easy as we think, there is a lot of physical and mental strain involved in it. Further more he is also captaining the side and this gives him additional burden. Rohit earlier also led the side a few times before and he did a good job then. Even Bumra, our best bowler also was rested. Playing continuesly may lead to injurues. Our body needs rest. Let him enjoy.

If rest is so much needed, why not take a break from Australia series which will happen in India. We all know how formidable Indian team is in Indian conditions. The real need for quality players is on foreign tours, especially in places like Aus, NZ, SA and England. He is a human being, agreed, but resting in middle of a foreign tour is not something which he can be proud of.

When suddenly he pulled out of the NZ ODI series after one match which was not delcared before hand, then it means there may be some issues with his fitness. Everybody loves to play in a beautiful Country like NZ and Kohli is not a man reluctant to play overseas matches. We do not know the reason behind him opting out from the rest of the series, just a guess.
