Yes, India did well to wrap up the Aus tour on a high and team India is indeed very near to building a WC winner.While Aus wins were creditable but the NZ series is going to be the real acid test towards India's search for the WC winning combo.The Indian bowling is more or less s a settled bunch except for Pandya's availability and role to be duly settled.However it is time Virat makes Chahal-Kuldip duo a permanent fixture to give enough time for them to adjust to become the most formidable m.o controllers in the WC.Pace combo is more less settled with all-rounders jadeja or Pandya thrown in.The kiwis series will really be test for our batters , the openers or even the m.o.Shikhar Dhawan to me looks suspect against quality bowling and NZ series will be true test for him facing a superior pace attack.Same with m.o and more so Dhoni's, to clear the final hurdle successfully.Can he anchor or finish against a superior bowling ?I feel Rishab Pant as an additional batter in the m.o will be essential in addition to Rayudu,Kedar Jadav and DK.Finally,Virat too will be tested for the best batsman tag against one of the best bowling attack.

Dhoni played well no doubt. But he was dropped thrice and was clearly out when he was 21. had it not been Kedar Yadav and Kartik's blistering knock , India would have lost both matches. We have cherished Dhoni playing for India but time now to move on. He is too slow to be considered for ODIs. Remember as captain he dropped Dravid and Ganguly for same reason from Odis

I had written previously about the Indias probable in 2019 WC. I definitely believe that Pant doesn't deserve a place at least before Dhoni's retirement.
Let us dig into this little more. First of all those who are supporting Pant are arguing that he has "X" factor and can turn the game on his own. There is no denying that he has "X" factor and can turn the game on his own. Then, why he shouldn't he be part of the Indian dressing room in 2019 WC. Well, to answer that let us look at India's 2011 WC team. Then, we had Viru, Yuvraj and Dhoni as "X" factors and Sachin, Gambhir and Virat provided stability by providing support role.
In present team we have Rohit, Dhawan, and Virat, and Pandya as "X" factors and probably Raydu, Dhoni, and Jadhav/Pandey will provide stability. We need to have right mix of attacking, over attacking, and players playing with responsibility. Also, the way DK plays its nothing less than hard hitting batsman. So definitely we do not need another "X" factor in the playing XI.
Another argument is he is wicketkeeper. However, please note DK and Raydu in the team means we already have good backup. Also, if we decide to have another opener as a backup, and decide to go ahead with KL Rahul then we have another option as wicketkeeper.
Also, please note he had series of failures in T20 before Aus tour. So I would look for a player who is more reliable than "X" factor that Pant poss

Give more chances to talented youngsters like Rishab Pant, Mayanak Agarwall, Prithvi Shaw who are more consistent and fluent scoring in one day cricket. Next world cup will be after 4 years and by that time time they may lose their best form.
