I am regularly watching Indian team playing off late, I beg to differ here that, with KL Rahul, DK, Rayadu and MSD it is difficult to get any results, off late MSD is not his original self, he struggles with his shot making, I do not know, why our experienced players do not take to task the selection panel to not include these players, there is enough talent which warming the benches in Aus at the moment, pl do something to get a right combination.

Dhoni vs Pant
by D BALAKRISHNAN on Jan 12, 2019 04:11 PM

I strongly believe Dhoni should be dropped and Pant to be included. Also Prithvi Shaw and S Gill should be included. Shikar Diwan and Rahane should be dropped. They have been numerous chance without success. They score 1 out of 10 innings.

WITH DHONI TEAM IS TAKING A CALCULATED RISK
by damodaran mohan on Jan 11, 2019 04:26 PM

Pant's very glaring shortcoming is his jump towards the right to collect or catch the ball.Being a lefty he instinctively moves left first and then jumps to right and in the process loses fraction of a second and sometimes far right catches.Otherwise he is as good as Dhoni though the latter because of experience is more spontaneous instinctively moving towards the ball either side. Batting and strike rate wise there is no comparison. While Pant could be match winner with his strike rate Dhoni on the other hand could drag down the side down due to poor strike rate putting pressure on the following batters which could be cause for getting eliminated in k.o matches. It is for team management to assess the degree of risk they are taking with Dhoni.

PANT vs MSD - - -
by Shilpa Mehta on Jan 11, 2019 10:49 AM  | Hide replies

Pant is very good no doubt , but he needs
bit more grooming till he can step into MSD's shoes .

WC is no time for experiments & only seasoned players needs to be selected .

And moreover , MSD's present form is not at all a concern . He will surely bounce quickly & strongly .
Its just a matter of 1-2 games .

Has Pant ever handled any pressure situation yet ??

For example : If the target to India is 300 & score is 100 for 4 in 22 overs , Can Pant finish the game along with lower middle order ??

ANSWER IS NO - - - BUT , MSD CAN .

( May not be in 100 percent of the games but
at least 80 percent )

This is the main difference between Pant & MSD as on today , which few FOOL cricket does not understand .

Also , Pant cannot stump OR run out a batsman which MSD does at lightning speed .

Remember - - - I am not at all a FAN of any particular player .

Dhoni is more a wicket keeper madam. He is now back stopper. Watch when he keeps against low high ball, mostly uses his pads instead of gloves. That indicates his reflex has gone. Moreover Pant is superb with both bat and gloves. Talking about stumping of Dhoni? Can you remember how many times he missed stumping chances against harbhajan, aswin (he feels uneasy with off spin bowling)bowling. Dhoni had an edge against Wriddhiman not for keeping (as wriddhiman is far better quality wicket keeper than dhoni) but only for his aggressive batting. Now Pant has been keeping well and his bat has been talking more aggressively than dhoni. So Pant must come and dhoni should be dropped.

Majority is saying Pant should be included in the team. But who listens. If MSD is so dear for the selection committee, atelast he should have been icnluded as a batsman instead of Karthik or Ambati Raydu. Kohili was talking like a helpless Captain at the end of the match and he is totally confused what to do with the which I feel is not made as per his liking. Unlke other players, I do not think Kohili will try to stick around with the team once he passes his peak time with the bat or after he cross a certain age. He already started talking about his retirement plans now itself when he is on top. I am sure he will opt for retirement much earlier than expected and will give way for youngsters.

Dhoni

Dhoni should have retired by now. He has a fabulous record in the past. But his batting has become so poor that he is not fit as a batsman even in Ranji matches. Rishabh Pant's batting is good but his wicket keeping is not so great. But we should go with him because flaws in wicket keeping are compensated by his batting.
