Why can't both Dhoni and Pant be taken to the World Cup?
Great players often rise to the occasion and hope Dhoni does. Then Pant has so many years to play...and if Dhoni fails initially we fall back upon Pant
As far as Dhoni is concerned, age is catching up. It is not his mistake, but natural phenomenon. Afterall Pant grabbed maximum number of 11 catches in Australia and missed a few as well. But he is very much enthusiastic and can improve well before the world cup, provided the seniors like Farrok Engineer, Syed Kirmani and Dhoni extend him a helping hand. The problem is that Dhoni is a total failure with the bat these days, but Pant is much more consistent. Atleast he can be included in the playing 11 as a batsman if not as a wicket keeper.
Simple reason, there is no other consistently reliable batsman against all types of bowling especially in the middle order. He continues to be long race runner and even our top order batmen are also no match to him.
Dhoni is a good cricketer and advisor, but not fit due to age which is natural, he should understand and win world cup by mentoring and encouraging the team with his experience. Pant is the right choice.
