When it becomes too tough to select one from among 2-3 players, better go for lucky dip option. When everybody feels that Pant is a better option than Karthik and when selectors think otherwise, why cant they secretely try a lucky dip option ? When they finalize on Kathik, they try to find all demerits of Pant and if Pant was selected then they do just the opposite.
