Shastri's statement is not right. In both Tests where Curran supported lower order and scored runs, he did not take game away from us. Both times we had very modest targets to win, but India looked like having more tailenders than batsmen. Also otherwise bright Indian bowling has one minus thing, that is inability to take final 4 wickets. This is because of inaccurate and inability to produce yorkers consistently to tailenders. Countries like Australia and Pakistan are winning some matches just because of their ability to take quick last 5 wickets. We need to sharpen our bowling in this area.
Surprising statement from the experienced Ravi Shastri. It was a collective England effort which upset us with some exceptional performance from Curren. How about Woakes and Butler and what about Moen and Bairstow. During the series unlike our team who were solely dependent on the captain many English players put their hands up when the need rose.
What Shastri is talking looks very absurd.Whenever we saw him on TV he was rubbing his eyes & alwys found sleepy. Let's all accept . .India batted badly, openers were flop.middle order failed,bowlers failed to take wickets of middle order & tail enders. Regarding ICC ranking their is something wrong with India's ranking methodology.We cannot be No1. We hv fared very badly in Test & ODI. What we want now are allrounders may be 5 to 6 in our team. Dhawan,Vijay,Rahul,Pujara,Rahane,Ashwin look mediocre & sluggish. We hv to induct fresh blood the team should hv more allrounders who can bat & bowl on any given time on live wickets.For this to happen we hv to send them abroad train them there to play on live wickets rathern than playing in IPL mathches here. The concept of seperate test team,seperate ODI team & seperate 20-20 team is the need of the hour. Let selecters think before sending team for forth coming series with Australia.Otherwise we will face the same music.
