Captaincy is not just thumping and jumping but requires good bit of thinking to bring out the best from the players.Someone needs to point out that to Virat.But in a useless way,they always inflate him saying he is aggressive.Main culprit is Ravi Shastri.Also you look at Virat's abysmal performance as captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore.So,he is simply not a captaincy material,especially for test matches.Bring Rahane or Cheteswar as captain in test matches and Rohit for ODIs and T20s.By this we will allow Virat to focus more on his batting and scale Himalayan heights.His batting is incredible and that should be nurtured.But can we expect such moves from traditional mindset of Indian selectors.

I endorse this conclusion. But our selectors are not bold enough to act justifiably. We cannot find a better batsman than Virat but a captain we can. At least some other captain will bring better luck than Virat who losses 5 tosses in arow.

You make some valid points especially citing Virat's horrandeous reign as RCB Captain, Rohit seems to be a good choice for ODI n T20 but the problem is the lack of Captaincy options in Test Cricket .... two names you took i.e Pujara and especially Rahane both there Test spots are under scrutiny and in Rahane's case rightly so .
India are proven poor travellers in cricket. This team has no tenacity to win overseas. They will loose in australia also even with the absence of warner and smith. Team selection lot to be desired. You cannot keep on playing Dhavan who is a flat track bullie and one day player. Select Mayank Agarwal who has scored heavily at the domestic level. Rahul should be given one last chance. I agree that baring this hundred he has done nothing but in australia with pitch aiding more bounce than swing he will be the best bet to open. Cheteswar Pujar is very good test player in subcontinent but his technique on the inwinging deliveres is questionable but I would retain at No 3. Hardik Pandya should not be considered as all rounder, he should bowl regularly to have a chance in test team otherwise he should be only for onedayers. I still feel Rohit Sharma is better as No 6 in test compared to Vihari or Nair but it is up to selectors to take a call. Coach and support staff should assist the batsman and bowlers for that better batting consultant and bowling coach is required. I feel Rahul Dravid and Javagal Sreenath/Zaheer Khan should be appointed as consultants overseas. Kholi should refine his captaincy skills for test. Some the changes was just confusing. He is the best batsman in any format at the moment but as this article suggest, he donot have the skillset to be a better captain but he can overcome it with his fighing attitude. Wish he doesent become another tendulkar.

Favouritism to Pandya and Dhawan are also the reason of this scoreline 4-1... if the chosen the best XI and use the DRS wisely could make a lot of difference, but Captain Kohli dosnt find any mistake in his approach, he feels this is the best touring team in last 15 years... which means the he conveniently overlook the success of Dravids, Sachins, Gangulys, Kumlez, ZAKs era... lets see when the common sense will prevail in Indian cricket... as fans are considered fools by Shastri and company.
Captaincy - F for failure authoritarian, too hyper, expects everyone to match his batting standards and commitment, drops in form players on whimsical pretext like dropping kumar in 2nd test at SA when he was india's best bowler and batted better than top order batsmen; or outrageous decision such as include kuldeep yadav at lords; playing friend dhawan who has no technique outside the subcontinent; poor prepartion for england series - from kumar's IPL era injury to making him play in 1-dayers and T-20 when he could have rested and been fresh for the tests includes his batting; unable to finish off enland tail on many occasions; has very mediocre coach - shastri(who doesnt deserve to eb commentator either), arun (who is there bcoz he was in the indian U-19 team where shastri was the captain); bangar who? fielding coach s radhakrishnan who? radical overhaul of coach and support staff: change of captian required - kohli's hyperactive nature - 37 changes in 37 tests - like some wild gambler playing high stakes poker in vegas

who is real coach ? Shastri ? bharat arun? sanjay bangar? . Thats issue no.1 . Only one coach is needed. And commentator Shastri can never be a coach . Our selectors have played just 5 test !! And Kohli can never be a good captain . He is a great world class batsman . Please answer them we have won most of our tests in our home ground and not abroad. During the English tour it has been proved wrong team selection, and the failures of the batsmen apart from Kohli, below standard wicket-keeping by Kartik & Panth giving away more than 24-30 runs as byes,and the bowlers not able to polish off the tailenders of England quickly responsible for the loss. Now had India won the series the praise would have been shared by the Captain & the Coach. Now India have lost so why don't they be blamed.

Yes, We are number one in our backyard. Even though I do not undermine the performance in India but English & Australian conditions should be conquered. Having said so our boys did a reasonable job and yes I personally feel it has been a better performance in comparison with past.

Exactly all these failures as captain played for their own records ...least bothered about the pride of the country. Ranked no 1 in Test cricket, lost 1-4 to minows english team

i think Anil was and still better than Shastri. Players backup Shastri as he is just a puppet. On over seas tour, players accompany their spouse & celebrate honey moon and visiting places instead of focusing on game,,,,,

50% fees of the players and coach should be detained and paid only after completion of the series based on actual performance evaluation.
