This might not be the ideal preparatory home series ahead of India's Aus tour and has certainly not served that purpose. After the England debacle it might be a soothing feeling of winning 10th consecutive series win and an ego booster. However not much purpose is served in correct assessment of Individual and team strength and in fact could mislead and overestimate our strengths playing against a weak team. One positive of course is the inspired spell of bowling for the MOM Umesh Yadav taking 10 wkts who for once seen bowling with good 'control'--disciplined line and length. It was this lack of control which made him sit on the benches more often and I wish him more such spells on the bouncy Aus pitches.Spinners bowled well but WI batters hardly tested them with little clue playing them.I think Ashwin bowled tight line keeping the pressure constantly but Kuldip looked more penetrative. So Ashwin too needs to do whatever it needs to be more lethal and wkt taking.Coming to batting Prithvi Shaw is deserving MOS and looks a promising opener for India in the coming yrs.But he should try to be a Gavaskar than a Sehwag or a Lara at least in the shorter term till he establishes himself. The dashing Rishab Pant, another promising youngster comes as a boon in the m.o but has to hone his W/keeping skills.Rahane's timely knock comes as a big relief but judgement reserved given the weak b/attack.Opening and m.o.looks work in progress still and needs some more imaginative solution.
