Current team is Champions of Minnows

In 1990's PAK AUS ENG SA NZ SL WI had very good teams (even though cricket in WI was declining and fast declining).
Currently only ENG AUS NZ are good teams. Current Indian team can win only on slow and dead wickets.

No comparison between two ages.

By 1990's India standards this team is the worst.

Even bowlers like shami ishant bhumbara bhuvi umesh jadeja are getting wickets fame and money because the opposition is not strong.

Than gully cricket as in pressure situation they usually succumbed with greats like Tendulkar included. Only Australia under Ponting had shown the world how to play and conquer interest in cricketing World.

Itâs cos of you selfish guys
by Abstract baba on Oct 09, 2018 09:13 AM

You guys from the Gavaskar school of thought where centuries are put ahead of the team success are the real reason for the decline. Gavaskar in a way had already proved himself by batting against great Windies. Itâs in the 90s that the selfishness took over the team spirit and it was the count of centuries that always mattered (the great Sachin included).

The Indian cricket team did not do well in the 90s primarily because the West Indies as well as Aus, Eng and SA and even Pak had strong teams and those countries then had an avid fan base and the Indian team was just not good enough !

The Indian team appears to be very good now at least on home turf as cricket is no longer attracting much talent in those countries (except perhaps Pak) and the quality of their teams has steeply fallen !

Many cricket commentators have emphatically stated that the Indian team of today would have been pulverised repeatedly even on Indian pitches by the West Indian and Pak teams of the 1980s if they could have met !!

In other words, the hyped to the skies Indian team of today might have easily proved to be inferior even to the Indian team of the 1980s that, with players such as Amarnath and Vengsarkar, could stand up at least occasionally to the fearsome pace of Marshall, Roberts, Holding, Imran Khan, Wasim Alarm, etc !

Oh, you dont need to know how to hold a cricket bat properly to reproduce what cricket commentators have said repeatedly about the cricket teams of the 1980s and the Indian team of today !

There, even you will be easily able to understand this simple fact, right ?
