Ganguly on Australian cricket

After the 'Monkeygate' episode, Matthew Hayden had described Harbhajan Singh as an “an obnoxious little weed”. It would be interesting to now what he had to now say about the players of his own country. What really baffles me is the quantum of punishment handed out to the two players? Some Indian cricketers were suspended for one match for making vociferous appeals. It is disgusting.

Once upon a time known as Gentlemen game, the game of cricket is slowly and steadily loosing its position. Australians known for professionalism. Cricket is after all a fame. Defeat is part of the same. One do not understand to win,why Smith and company have gone to that extent. Now they have list their positions as well as places. South Africa win the test very convincingly.

Smith is to be praised ...

I am NOT certain that Smith asked for cheating to be carried out in the first place. After all the remarkable success he has been having over the last few years, why would he want to throw it away all? This then leads me to believe that Bancroft did carry out the act, at someone's behest ... and Smith shouldered the blame manfully. If the cheating was done at the behest of Smith, then Smith needs a whole new head. Obviously one series loss will NOT push Australia to the bottom of the pile. This action is too bizarre for any reasonable and logical deduction.

Stupidity and act of bravery

Yes, it is true that Bancroft was found tampering the ball which is against the spirit of the game.....that's fine.... but what captain Smith did after that needs lot of courage. In the press meet he took the entire charge on his shoulder when he could have avoided it. I give full credit for this honesty to Smith which proves that he is not crafty and what Sourav rightly said "it was an act of stupidity".

Ball tampering is an open secret in the field of cricket till you are not caught.......Question of Life ban does not arise . Let him face the punishment as per the law of ICC........NO NEED OF MEDIA TRIAL.

I am sure anybody played cricket to a level will agree with me.

The fire in the minds of Australian Players to win the game is the main cause of all these type of silly acts. Smith and Warner are really good batsman and frankly they do not need to go for ball tampering for winning the match. We have seen players from all the countries of some of silly acts (John Lever applied vasalin in the ball against India). Life bank of a such good player like Smith is really harsh. But he must be punished in such way that it is a lesson for all the other players in Australia.

The Australian teams are doing these kind of unsportsmanship things for a very long time & unless somevery harsh punishment is not given it would not stop. I will advocate life ban for smith Warner, Bancroft Lehmann at least & some less harsher punishment for fast bowlers as they are sure to knew that the ball is tempered with.

When caught in the act by cameras, no option but to admit and confess :-)
