Pending further deliberations, both the captain and the player concerned should be banned for rest of this current test, if not for rest of the series.

This is far too serious, as it involves leadership and multiple levels.
Ideally, it should result in banning of Australia itself, not just banning of individuals, for an appropriate period of time.
Let's see what course the law will take.
