Again on Dhoni
by mani iyer on Jul 21, 2018 10:28 PM

World Cup is a tough competition and the best can be accomodated. I beg to disagree with my friend Sridhar Sreenivasan that Kohli is capable of handling the team on his own.

Dhoni in next year's world cup
by mani iyer on Jul 21, 2018 10:25 PM

Rohit, Dhawan, Rahul, Kohli,Rhane,Pandya,Iyer,Shaw,Pant....there are many many more people knocking at the door. Hence, MSD should give way for a youngster.

Dhoni

If selection committee wants to retain him for his wisdom, then he can be 1or 2 down. Batsman ,till he is not wanted. He is better with pacers than with spinners.

The old fox Dhoni
by Shakti Prasanna Mohapatra on Jul 21, 2018 05:11 PM

Just to show himself a Great finisher he will risk the match. So if 10 runs are required to win in the last 2 overs left he will play 10 dot balls and not even give chance to the batsman at the other end, so that he can have a photo finish with 2 huge sixes. And if he fails to do that...Well there is always the Captain Cool tag to live up to.

Plain sick of his old tactics.

He will never bat at no 4 unless pitch is for batting.... Not even in his prime. His game is not such that he can handle swing bowling .

correct...dhoni should be only considered for no. 3 or no. 4...his stats at that batting positions too are his best...he sacrificed that slot for others over the years...but if he bats there he will be able to play long innings more often...

Keeping should be a factor

It is argued by many that Dhoni is the best wicket keeper in the world at this point of time. Why people like Ganguli are not considering this skill while commenting on Dhoni's position in the team.
It seems Ganguli's memory is very low. How many important innings were played by Dhoni in the recent IPL should be kept in mind.Had he scored runs at an average of 10 but with a strike rate of 150 will Ganguli recommend him?
