It is not advisable to bat at no. 4 instead of his regular No. 3 position. When Dhawan and Rohit are openers and both are aggressive ODI players and in case one of them fail better Kohli comes to give steadiness as he has done in T20S at No. 4 after the fall of Dhawan and Rahul. As Rahul is aggressive India should not risk losing another wicket at that stage of the innings. Rahul should bat at No. 4 as it is ODI and he has got enough overs. Even Rohit and Dhawan fail also in the intelligent player like Kohli at the other end, it helps Rahul to play his agrression. It can be followed with other players and Dhoni at No. 6 and pandya at no. 7 will have solidity. That too Kohli is in runs though he has not scored century or half century in T20s but he has done well with good run rate

I would disagree. Like you said, Kohli will make things steady. Kohli is more consistent and he is perfect for number 4. It can evolve into a Rahul Dravid role (more aggressive, quick and consistent). However, if they are chasing a high total (for eg 350 plus) Kohli may come 3 down as you expect a top order batsman to play a longer innings and it can psychologically add value in the dressing room and the players to come.
