Expecting to win the series should be the aim. We have the men to beat South Africans in their back yard. To our advantage explosive player ABd is not playing in the first three matches. Our all fielders need to do well. Probably exposing Bumhra in the recently concluded test series might go against India. With his stereotype bowling the South Africans may score runs against his bowling. Caution required by our batsmen in handling their bowling. Hope the series will have the interesting result.
Yes, thanks to the morale boosting win at wanderers now India are better placed at least to hope to be in the race. One big relief for India is absence of Philander who single handedly dismantled Indian batting in the Tests.I expect unlike in the Tests the openers to do well and so the crowded m.o stands better chance to build a 300 plus total w/o which win is difficult.One man who will be under intense scrutiny will be Dhoni, for his bating especially when the team will need a rescue act under pressure.Even Pandya will be keenly watched for his all-round abilities.Among spinners, Chahal looks the front runner with kuldip yadav and Axar Patel battling for the 2nd spinners spot.India for once enjoys the problem of plenty in both the deptts. Inclusion of Shami could prove decisive.Considering that India looked low on purpose and intensity in the 1st two Tests with poor fielding,catching etc. as compared to the 3rd Test which they won,Shastri-Virat combo must ensure team India goes all out right from the start.
Even if India has lost 2 matches and the series, there was no way South Africa was superlative though they performed well. But the fighting spirit India showed in 3rd match as well winning it was a shame for South Africa because throughout the series they could not play our bowlers even the star likes of Amla, De Villiers and Du Plesis. And in the absence of De Villiers, India is going to easily win the first 3 ODIs and then ofcourse the rest of ODIs too. South Africa is not the team they were earlier. They do not have any strong batsman and totally rely on their bowlers. But only bowlers cannot win matches if batsmen cannot perform. And with the success ratio and performance of Virat, he has recently been declared as the best captain cricket history has ever seen. So, though India can be beaten, but can never be totally outperformed.
