If a highly salaried coach can not read the pitch character prior to match and select team accordingly then what for he is accompanied the team ? Is it to malign the pride of country?
It was a common sight that the ball coming upto bat was rising far higher than we have been witnessing in other pithches Worldover. Many snick catch were offered by our batsmen on the rising pitch. Obviously SA batsmen are accustomed to bat on such pitches more than Indian counterparts. The test result is not going to be true representation of quality of Indian batting side. May be time has come when pitches are prepared as per some international specifications instead of every country having their own pattern of pitch preparations.

But that is the beauty of cricket! Even though India is officially ranked No.1 Test Team (thanks to their performance on Indian wickets in 2017), in my opinion current Aus, Eng, SA and Indian teams are on par with each other in Test Cricket since they perform well in their own countries and fumbles in foreign countries. The No.1 Team is one who wins series against each opposition in its own country as well as in foreign countries... which WI team under Clive Lloyd and Aus team under Steve Waugh had done in the past.
