If there was a 6th batsman, India would have won. If India had won the toss, it would have won. If India did not drop those catches, it would have won.
But as far as SA is concerned, there are no IFs !
The south Africans performed fully upto their potential and couldnt have done any better !!!!
why no is talking about the Maharaj drop catch by Dhawan because of that only we have lost the test match if dhawan had taken that catch South Africa could have folded much early or under 250 runs than the lead could much lesser

There has been too much cut and paste job going on in test selections. Ashwin was underbowled in the 1t test but inspite of that he managed two wickets. There is a total lack of out of the box thinking in both the captain and the coach. An additional batsmen would not have made any difference at all as he also would have swished his willow outside the off stick with his head in the sky and the bat miles away from the body. If you are thinking of adding one more batsman you may have to recall VVS Lakshman or Rahul DSravid for other than these two I do not think India has produced any batsman of test class under seaming conditiona. Too juch ODIs and T20s, that is what does it. If 6 bats can not do the job I do not think that a 7th will make any differeence at all.
"'If they had included one extra batsman and if he had made 60, 70 runs, the result could have been different.'
One extra batsman could have come only in place of a pace bowler. But all the pacers bowled well and in the absence of one fast bowler, the workload on other bowlers would have increased. With five specialist batsmen and Saha, Bhuvi, Ashwin and Pandya being capable batsmen, the batting strength was good enough. All it was required in the second innings of India, was for the openers to bat cautiously and see through the first 15 to 20 overs and thereafter batting would have been easy as proved by Bhuvi.
Amre's pointis not valid; Ashwin took 2 wickets in teh first innings and was needed to bowl in teh 2nd when South Africa was folding up. And if another batsman had played in place of Ashwin, you would have also lost the 37 runs he made under pressure in the second innings!
