But Pandya, Bhuvaneshwar, Iyer and Rahane have played very poorly, they can be replaced only for something better

very correct bro. my objection was only to the term dead rubber and thence minimizing the importance of a big game. i agree to the subject of changing outform players. thank you.

That's right and 4-5 of the playing XI so far have performed consistently poor indeed and so called 'fringe' are expected to perform better...

Only two changes. Shreyas has been a liability on the field and has not exactly revealed his talent at the crease. So Kohli should be there. Also Rahane has caused worry with his inconsistency. Shikhar has got a rough deal more often than not. He should be retained.

If Dhawan, Rohit and Kohli plays, then rest of the plays are not likely to get enough batting to be judged who is fit for middle order. at least 2 of these 3 should be rested to test bench strength.

Looks fine. We should give chance to those who have not played and those who have not performed well.
No player is a fringe player. It would be appropriate to say test the bench instead of referring to the talent as fringe players. I guess this is a fringe article by a fringe columnist with a fringe mind.
Better to try out Shardul as against Kumar and Manishpandey against Shreya so that they can also have a look at South Africa. Axar patel can be played in place of either Chahal or Kuldip or Pandya can be dropped for Axarpatel which serves fifth bowlnig option as South Africa are not able to play spinners
