This is the best team even for upcoming series. Is Ms Dhoni place may be replaced or not.But on other hand he is most senior guy who manages the field and in crucial circumstance his experiences are fruitful, so let him decide when he will retire. The only concer in the team India is Ajikya Rahane which may be replaced with either Manish Pandey or Shreyas Iyyer. Why not Mr. Ravi Shastri try for one explosive guy from Under 19 World Cup team. may be he would be future Virat

Credit goes to bowlers but what about middle order?
by P.Prabhu on Feb 14, 2018 04:53 PM  | Hide replies

We are lucky that SA doesnt play spin well, otherwise, we could even have lost 2 more matches with modest targets. I dont understand why still continuing with Rahane and Iyer when IPL has shown loads of talents in players like Sanju Samson, Rishab Pant, Krunal Pandya, etc.

Sanju Samson and Rishab Pant were given chances multiple times. They failed miserably. Krunal is worth trying.

Sanju Samson Rishabh Pant together has played 3 T20s , 0 One dayers , 0 Tests ... Is that the definition for multiple chances .

Actually it was a surprise that Shreyas Iyyer got selected after pathetic IPL season he had. His batting is not that exciting but what concerns is his chronic issue of catch dropping, I have seen him dropping many in IPL also, that is not a good sign.

Issues to resolve:

1)Our Middle order-too brittle. Bat MSD at No.4 (or keep him out of team)

2) Bring back Raina at No.6

3) Bat KL Rahul consistently at No.5

4) Ask Pandya to improve his batting or make way for other suitable candidates

5) Do play Aswin & Jadeja in ODIs on interim basis

6)Try to groom 1-2 more new pace bowlers

Finally selectors should ask Dhoni to play county cricket in order to improve his overseas batting skills or ask him to hang up his bat.

I am in endorsement to only few of your suggestions. Truthfully Dhoni should be asked to participate in counties to improve his batting rhythm. Till them he should be out of the team. Parthiv or saha are the alternate choice. As parthiv can bat agressively without fear.Ofcourse Ashwin and jadeja, should be tried alternatively to chahal and kuldeep yadav.

@Sridhar Belur:: I would have liked MSD to retire but Parthiv and Saha are not fit in ODIs. May be we can try Pant/Samson etc. on interim basis
