Don't Underestimate The Aussies
by keeth Lapersonne on Jan 02, 2019 11:21 AM

If it's one thing I don't do is under estimate an Aussie. I have known them for what their are and when they are down they'll come back & hit you hard with what ever they have. I for one predict that the test match will be won by Australia... However if India plays a spinner it could make a difference.... Considering that we are still suspect to a ball that rears up from a good length, the match is going to be a really interesting. Lets wait and watch... If Virat & Pujara come good India have a chance..... But my gut feeling is the Aussies will win!!!!

Sydney, in all probability,

will continue the trend of the side winning the toss opting to bat first and going on to win the match !

If that happens, might as well decide the outcome after the toss itself rather than actually play out the match !

In recent times, the toss has proved not so important only in matches played on the seaming pitches of England, where India was routed 4-1 recently.

AGAIN THAT SMITH - WARNER - - I am FED UP hearing this now
by Shilpa Mehta on Dec 31, 2018 03:00 PM  | Hide replies

Since from begining of this series , I have been hearing SMITH - WARNER , SMITH - WARNER .

Does HOME TIGERS Australia's bench strength is so weak that they does not have suitable replacement of these two ??

As if AUS plays with NINE players in their absence .

What will happen if these two gets injured OR Rested OR Retire tomorrow ??
Will AUS lose every game in their absence ??

They are not very GREAT players . AUS would have been defeated by even BIGGER MARGIN if Smith - Warner have played this Melbourne test .

INDIA IS ALSO MISSING ASHWIN , PANDYA &
PRITHVI SHAW BUT NEVER MADE SO MUCH OF HUE
& CRY LIKE SMITH - WARNER .

You Lady have no idea of Cricket!!! If your 2 best players are not playing there is a huge difference in the outcome of a result...... Furthermore in conditions prevailing down under player like Pandya, Shaw will not make a difference..... Get you cricket Right!!!

Its too easy to write off Aus for Sydney. They showed in the second test at Perth that they can vcan beat Ind if they bat first and Ind have chased poorly this year.

Long and frantic effort
by piri on Dec 31, 2018 01:54 PM  | Hide replies

by the writer to divert attention from the main reason for Indias victory - the toss !!

India will win the series IF it wins the toss in Sydney !

This Indian team is an even match for the current Australian side (without its two best batsmen) !

Correct! If India had won the toss in second test , it would have been 3-0 for India. In the second innings, all batsmen failed. Had they hit centuries apiece, there would be no match for them.

Correct !

If Australia had won the toss in Adelaide and Melbourne, it would have led the series 3-0 now !

Even after losing the toss and playing without its two best batsmen, Australia gave full strength India a mighty fright in Adelaide !

And the pitch in Melbourne, after playing ok for the first two days, began deteriorating badly from the 2nd evening !

So much so that the great Indian batting line up was razed 106 for 8 in its second innings, even before India had begun celebrating Australia getting shot out for 151 runs !

Correct ! One more point - You forgot to add the umpire strength missing for Aus due to DRS. All these years they were winning with the help of Umpires and poor guys that is also not coming to help due to DRS. India was all along playing with 13 (11 2 umpires) whenever they visited Aus but not this time.

From next time on, we will suggest for only toss to decide the winners and ensure that only Aus wins the toss.

It is difficult for any team to win matches without the services of their two main batters

a team is made of 11 people, if I am correct, not just 2 people.

India won the series against the WI without any of their great players which means even B team is stronger than a test team like WI. Poor Aus donot have a single international player to replace the team in case of emergency. That's not a world class team. India can even win without Virat & Pujara against Aus as many substitutes are waiting frantically who are equally good.
